{"id":25346,"date":"2015-10-28T14:42:19","date_gmt":"2015-10-28T12:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=25346"},"modified":"2016-11-23T13:26:29","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T11:26:29","slug":"engineer-in-training-job-vacancy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/engineer-in-training-job-vacancy.html","title":{"rendered":"Engineer-in-Training Job Vacancy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This training programme is aimed at developing the knowledge gained by the graduate engineer at university so as to transform the individual into a professional engineer.<\/p>\n<p>This will assist in expanding the graduate who will then be able to autonomously investigate and solve problems, execute tasks efficiently and take responsibility for engineering and managerial decisions.<\/p>\n<p><u>Position outputs :<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Introduction to the various department which make up TNPA namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Procurement<\/li>\n<li>Health &amp; Safety<\/li>\n<li>Human Resources<\/li>\n<li>Environment<\/li>\n<li>Finance<\/li>\n<li>Project Support Services<\/li>\n<li>Cost Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Scheduling<\/li>\n<li>Document Control<\/li>\n<li>Quantity Surveying<\/li>\n<li>Contract Administration<\/li>\n<li>IT<\/li>\n<li>Facilities<\/li>\n<li>Security<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to other Transnet Business Unit Operating Divisions such as Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) and Transnet National Port Authority (TNPA) for a better understanding of how they fit together to form Transnet.<\/li>\n<li>General\/high level introduction to the Project Lifecycle Process (PLP).<\/li>\n<li>Report writing &amp; presentation skills training<\/li>\n<li>Formal registration as a Candidate Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).<\/li>\n<li>Registering with recognised voluntary associations such as, but not limited to:<\/li>\n<li>South African Institute of Electrical Engineering (SAIEE)<\/li>\n<li>South African Institute of Civil Engineering (SAICE)<\/li>\n<li>South African Institute of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE)<\/li>\n<li>Read engineering related publications.<\/li>\n<li>Introduction into Engineering Design. EIT will be placed with TNPA design office, alternatively seconded to service providers (consultants) involved with designs on TNPA projects.<\/li>\n<li>The EIT is to be integrated into the overall project team.<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to Project Management principles.<\/li>\n<li>The EIT will be tasked with a supporting role- designing under supervision of senior engineers\/supervisors.<\/li>\n<li>Introduction and understanding of industry-related statutory requirements, but not limited to:<\/li>\n<li>ECSA \u2013 Engineering Profession Act, 2000, (Act No. 46 of 2000), including rules and code of conduct.<\/li>\n<li>OHSAct \u2013 Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, (Act No. 85 of 1993), as amended including all relevant regulations.<\/li>\n<li>TNPA policies and procedures:<\/li>\n<li>Health &amp; Safety Training<\/li>\n<li>Risk Assessment Training<\/li>\n<li>Reading of engineering related publications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The EIT is to be integrated into the overall project team and site based from the onset.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; To develop site experience and apply the knowledge obtained from the previous training phases and from theory learnt at their tertiary institution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The EIT is to be tasked to manage\/supervise certain aspects\/implementations of the project under the supervision of senior construction supervisors\/mentor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The EIT to be exposed to problem solving\/conflict management during construction phase of a project where problems arise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Formal PLP training<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Formal NEC3 training<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Construction management training<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Reading of engineering related publications.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The EIT may be given a small scale project to manage as project manager in addition to tasks already assigned, under the supervision of a senior project manager\/mentor.<\/p>\n<p>The EIT might be expected to act on behalf of other experienced project managers during a time the respective project manager is not available.<\/p>\n<p><u>Qualifications &amp; Experience :<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tertiary Education<\/li>\n<li>Degree\/National Diploma in Engineering (Civil,Electrical) and Project Managemet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Closing Date: 02 November 2015<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/recruiting.transnet.net\/sap\/bc\/webdynpro\/sap\/hrrcf_a_posting_apply?PARAM=cG9zdF9pbnN0X2d1aWQ9OUEyOTQ2MzQ0QjEwMUVFNTlGOTQ4QUM1NUY5RTU5MjgmY2FuZF90eXBlPUVYVA%3d%3d&amp;sap-client=400&amp;sap-language=EN#\" target=\"_new\"><u><strong>Click Here to Apply ONLINE<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This training programme is aimed at developing the knowledge gained by the graduate engineer at university so as to transform the individual into a professional engineer.
