{"id":27383,"date":"2016-05-16T16:51:29","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T14:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=27383"},"modified":"2016-11-18T13:44:37","modified_gmt":"2016-11-18T11:44:37","slug":"m-net-research-data-analyst-intern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/m-net-research-data-analyst-intern.html","title":{"rendered":"M-Net Research Data Analyst Intern"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>M-Net<\/strong> is a subscription-funded television channel broadcast in South Africa\u00a0seeks to appoint a self-motivated employment equity individual to assume responsibility of Research Data Analyst Intern.<\/p>\n<p>The candidate will report to the Research Manager and be based at our offices in Randburg.<\/p>\n<p>(Preference will be given to EE candidates)<\/p>\n<p>The Research division\u2019s main purpose is to strategically support and proactively provide M-Net, and the various channel clusters, with relevant research into their target markets, content selection, scheduling, competition, audience viewing behaviours and general content consumption trends.<\/p>\n<p>This is to successfully support business decision-making with strategic insight (short and long-term).<\/p>\n<p>The Research Specialist is required to support the specific M-Net channel cluster with content and audience research, findings, interpretations and strategic recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>It entails the collation and interpretation of data, as well as the ability to proactively communicate insight into strategic decisions impacting on the channel division\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p><u>External factors that will influence the work environment taking future conditions and strategic requirements into account:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Business environment<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic organisation<\/li>\n<li>M-Net policies and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Fast-paced and constantly changing environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>The stakeholders include the following internal and external parties:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Business units within M-Net<\/li>\n<li>MultiChoice<\/li>\n<li>DStv Digital Media<\/li>\n<li>DStv Media Sales<\/li>\n<li>Research agencies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The outputs are critical to the successful operation of research unit, as well as the internal business units within M-Net, which will enable M-Net to accomplish the organisation\u2019s mission and strategy.<\/p>\n<p><u>The outputs include the following:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Channel \/ content research, analysis and interpretation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Target market (profile \/ trends)<\/li>\n<li>Content selection<\/li>\n<li>Scheduling patterns \/ trends<\/li>\n<li>Competitive research, analysis and interpretation (target markets, content, scheduling and other).<\/li>\n<li>Assist in developing reporting standard specific to the channel cluster \/ stakeholder.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in conducting and distributing relevant, succinct channel specific research.<\/li>\n<li>Weekly research insight meetings with specific channel stakeholders (channel heads\/marketing\/scheduling).<\/li>\n<li>Distribute weekly\/bi-weekly\/monthly reports relating to M-Net channel and content performance, including competitor performance (audience ratings \u2013 channel and content, insights and recommendations).<\/li>\n<li>Assist with Monthly presentations to directors and channel heads regarding channel and content performance, including competitor performance (with strategic insight and sound recommendations).<\/li>\n<li>Assist with Market assessment and competitor analysis &#8211; reports relating to the specific channel cluster (new players, platforms, content, scheduling patterns, industry trends etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Assist with providing informed and practical recommendations to business \/ channel division.<\/li>\n<li>DStv-i and desktop research, including field research where required.<\/li>\n<li>Social media trend research.<\/li>\n<li>Quality assurance on all data \/ reports \/ presentations (data verification).<\/li>\n<li>Support field research projects as required by business.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with research supporting any new company developments (new projects\/channels\/platforms\/content).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Personal capabilities, which are critical to the production of quality outputs, are:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of and passion for TV content (movies \/ series \/ documentaries).<\/li>\n<li>An ability to strategically analyse data and provide insight and recommendations.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).<\/li>\n<li>Presentation and communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Meticulous \/ attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>A team player.<\/li>\n<li>Assertive.<\/li>\n<li>Time management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Good organizational and co-ordination skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE \/ QUALIFICATIONS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have relevant 3 year degree (Research, Economics, Finance, Sociology\/Psychology, Information and Knowledge Management and or Media studies)<\/li>\n<li>Post-graduation qualification in research or related field would be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Must have an exceptional knowledge of and a passion for the media industry<\/li>\n<li>Must have advanced computer skills (MS Excel \/ MS Word \/ MS PowerPoint)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Closing date for all applications is 20 May 2016 at 04:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Applications must be submitted to <strong><a href=\"mailto:Tshepiso.Mokanyane@mnet.co.za\">Tshepiso.Mokanyane@mnet.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>M-Net is a subscription-funded television channel broadcast in South Africa\u00a0seeks to appoint a self-motivated employment equity individual to assume responsibility of Research Data Analyst Intern.
