\nDesign of microwave solutions to compliment MTN metro fibre solutions. These will be customer \u201clast mile access\u201d solutions.
\nProviding technical support for the transport networks across network group to enable the design, provisioning, performance and support of wholesale services, including FTTH type solutions. Provide technical guidance on the evolution of the MTN ICT initiatives. Manage implementation and support requirements between technical, non-technical and customers
\nDetailed Description
\nStrategic Input
\n\u00b7 Contribute to the definition of the wholesale business network strategy with specific focus on Fibre and Microwave networks
\n\u00b7 Ensure the transport strategy and architecture aligns with business objectives and the strategic plans of other departments
\n\u00b7 Participate in the translation of the transmission and transport strategy and architecture into long term plans
\n\u00b7 Understand the capabilities and limitations of new technologies, applying best practices when designing the transport network
\nSolution Delivery
\n\u00b7 Support the design, Planning and Optimisation of transport networks access and backbone (WDM, SDH, IP\/MPLS)
\n\u00b7 Provide guidance on the deployment strategy for broadband \u2013 Services provided, Target areas
\n\u00b7 Vendor evaluation and selection for transport Networks focusing on Total Cost of Ownership, Technology assessment and vendor performance
\n\u00b7 Identify key evolution\/trends in transport technologies and provide roadmap input
\n\u00b7 Provide Technical support to all management layers on all wholesale network related issues.
\n\u00b7 Manage the performance of vendors and suppliers internal and external and assist in the resolution of major operational problems on the wholesale network
\n\u00b7 Negotiate with Network vendors
\n\u00b7 Assist in developing and supporting processes to enable wholesale network<\/p>\n
Transmission Commercialisation<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Support management in determining the investment strategy for wholesale i.e. investment areas and customers
\n\u00b7 Support management in determining the technology strategy for wholesale e.g. GPON, DWDM, CTN, M\/W, lease lines
\n\u00b7 Support management in determining a small cell strategy
\n\u00b7 Negotiate with suppliers for the most cost effective products
\n\u00b7 Contract management i.e. SLA management for delivery and performance
\n\u00b7 Provide inputs to various customer RFP\u2019s for Enterprise and F2H solutions<\/p>\n
Financial Management
\n\u00b7 Assist management with Capex and Opex budget relating to solution architectural activities
\n\u00b7 Assist in the forecasting, planning and development of the architectural budget and business plans<\/p>\n

\n\u00b7 3 year degree or Diploma in electrical engineering light-current \/ electronics \/ communication engineering \/ information technology<\/p>\n
\n\u00b7 A total of 5 years experience in solution architecture and Transmission Planning and Optimisation
\n\u2022 Minimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in an area of specialisation; with experience in supervising\/managing others
\n\u00b7 Experience working in a medium to large organization
\n\u00b7 Experienced in contract agreements and specifications of equipment and network installations
\n\u00b7 Experience on various microwave systems
\n\u00b7 Planning tool experience
\n\u00b7 RFP Design and Planning experience for Transmission Designs in the Enterprise space and not excluding F2H type solutions<\/p>\n
\n\u00b7 Vendor equipment and systems training
