\nTo coordinate and manage strategic plan for Core Data Systems;
\nAgreements for Core Data Systems;
\nBudget for the division in accordance with budget requirements;
\nEvaluate existing and new technology;
\nDesign and implementation of the packet core data network;
\nScoping, specification, testing and Integration of new and existing elements in Switching PS Core;
\nResearch and formulate a Switching PS Core strategy in terms of new core network technologies;
\nCapacity\/Demand management, coordination and collaboration with all stakeholders with respect to product design and service implementation;
\nManage daily operations within the Switching PS Core department;
\nManage and lead a team of people (Including suppliers) that are assigned to projects within the Switching PS Core department;
\nManage and formulate budget inputs for current and planned projects (CAPEX & OPEX);
\nPerformance Dialogue and Evaluation of Staff performance.
\nStaff, resource and time management
\nEngage in supplier negotiation and commercial discussions pertaining to core business and purchasing of new equipment and technologies.
\nInterface with vendors and suppliers as well as other divisions in Vodacom.
\nMaintain productive relationships with suppliers and other groups in the business.
\nDefine and formulate PS Core network planning guidelines for all new core network elements
\nManage and coordinate short and long term planning strategies for the switching PS Core function
\nManage and coordinate network architectural designs and topologies<\/p>\n
\nRelevant GSM Core systems;
\nGPRS\/LTE\/WiFi\/Mobile Convergence . Telco over cloud, NFV and service orchestration;
\nData systems (IP, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, IPLCS, Policy Control, load balances, service platforms, DNS) GSM\/GPRS\/UMTS\/LTE protocols and SS#7 and other IP Protocols;
\nTelecommunication Industry and current government telecomm legislation as well as developments within ETSI\/3GPP and ITU-T;
\nNetwork Designs ;
\nRadio Sub systems;
\nBusiness Acumen\/Ethics;
\nFinancial knowledge;
\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE <\/strong>
\nB.Sc. or B.Com. with Business management\/ Computer Science or an equivalent tertiary Matric (Essential)
\nA 3 year degree\/diploma in Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical or equivalent qualification. (Essential)
\n5yrs relevant experience (specify if possible), inclusive of 2yr leadership experience
\nA Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Telecommunications environment. (Essential)
\nAt least 2-3 yrs management\/leadership\/supervisory experience (Essential)
\nAt least 5 years\u2019 experience in the cellular industry with specific experience in Core Networks (Essential)
\nAt least 3 years\u2019 experience of GSM, GPRS\/UMTS\/LTE principles and protocols (Essential).
\nA good knowledge and understanding of the Internet Protocol (IP)\/NFV\/SDN will be an added advantage<\/p>\n
