The CA training programme was re-developed by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) in 2009, effective 2010 and offers training for the highly regarded CA(SA) designation. The programme was previously divided between TIPP & TOPP.<\/p>\n

Remodeling the CA Training route<\/strong>
\nA revolutionary new training model, designed to arm Chartered Accountants [CA (SA)] with broad-based business skills, has been developed by The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) in consultation with its members.<\/p>\n

The aim is to ensure that the CA (SA) brand responds to the needs of the South African economy, that the chartered accountancy designation remains relevant and sustainable, and that the profession continues to grow.<\/p>\n

The new model was designed to incorporate the current competencies prescribed for the TOPP and TIPP programmes into one set of comprehensive competencies.<\/p>\n

Hence, the emphasis on auditing will be balanced with other required competencies required by the market and the distinction between TIPP and TOPP will fall away.<\/p>\n

The competencies currently prescribed for the SAICA training programme have been re-defined with a more equal weighting of auditing with other core technical areas, among them taxation, managerial accounting, financial management and financial accounting.<\/p>\n

The new training programme will require the future CA (SA) to accord added emphasis to the following business skills and competencies:<\/p>\n
