Preference is given to applications for postgraduate studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Criteria and Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; South African citizens in good health with a strong academic record.<br \/>\n&#8211; Available to study in China from September 2016 (no extensions will be allowed).<br \/>\n&#8211; Demonstrated interest in China and commitment to the development of South Africa.<br \/>\n&#8211; Applications from all qualified candidates in any field will be accepted, but priority will be given to applications for postgraduate studies, previously disadvantaged applicants and applicants in the following fields:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biotechnology<\/li>\n<li>Chinese language studies<\/li>\n<li>Climate change<\/li>\n<li>Engineering sciences<\/li>\n<li>Human and social dynamics<\/li>\n<li>Management<\/li>\n<li>Maritime Studies<\/li>\n<li>Natural and physical sciences<\/li>\n<li>Nuclear and renewable energy<\/li>\n<li>Space science and technology<\/li>\n<li>Statistics<\/li>\n<li>Telecommunication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All students must meet the minimum academic requirements for entry into a similar programme at a South African university.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guidelines for education requirements and age limits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chinese language studies (non-degree) \u2013 National Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with a university entrance pass (a minimum of 60% average is recommended) \u2013 (Under 35)<\/li>\n<li>Doctoral degree \u2013 Master\u2019s degree (a minimum of 65% average is recommended) \u2013 (Under 40)<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree \u2013 Bachelor\u2019s degree (honours) (a minimum of 65% average is recommended) \u2013 (Under 35)<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree \u2013 National Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with a university entrance pass (a minimum of 60% average is recommended) \u2013 (Under 25)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Chinese Government provides the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registration and tuition,<\/li>\n<li>Shared accommodation in the international dormitory on campus,<\/li>\n<li>Living allowance<\/li>\n<li>Medical insurance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The South African Government provides the following (subject to the availability of funds):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One return economy airfare<\/li>\n<li>Monthly living allowance equivalent to R2,000<\/li>\n<li>Once-off settlement allowance equivalent to R3,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Successful scholarship applicants will be required to sign a contract and return to South Africa upon completion of studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dhet.gov.za\/internationalscholarships\/CHINESE%20GOVERNMENT%20SCHOLARSHIPS.html\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to apply<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enquiries: phone: 012 312 5287 or email: <strong><a class=\"\" href=\"mailto:internationalscholarships@dhet.gov.za\" target=\"_blank\">internationalscholarships@dhet.gov.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chinese Government is offering scholarships for South African students to study at Chinese institutions starting in the 2016\/17 academic year.The scholarship may be awarded for undergraduate (Bachelors) in the&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[2217],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
