{"id":30506,"date":"2016-08-08T09:24:24","date_gmt":"2016-08-08T07:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=30506"},"modified":"2016-11-11T12:27:08","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T10:27:08","slug":"trainee-librarian-vacancy-city-johannesburg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/trainee-librarian-vacancy-city-johannesburg.html","title":{"rendered":"Trainee Librarian Vacancy at City of Johannesburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Johannesburg has a Trainee Librarian position available within the Library &amp; Information Services department.<\/p>\n<p>This is a fixed term contract opportunity for a period NOT exceeding twelve (12) months.<\/p>\n<p><u>Job Description:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>To be trained to assist in rendering public library services focusing on providing people oriented service to the community assisting with routine library operations, programmes and the central marketing and development services.<\/p>\n<p><u>Training will include:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Book stock knowledge, collection management and library house-keeping routines.<\/li>\n<li>Reference and information retrieval skills (print and electronic resources).<\/li>\n<li>Special collections in the Johannesburg City Library (e.g. Africana, Performing Arts).<\/li>\n<li>Library extension services and reading development programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Use of the automated library system.<\/li>\n<li>Basic computer skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Requirements<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Four (4) year tertiary library qualification: B. Bibl \/ B. Inf. or PGDLIS or B.
