This is an Executive Mayoral driven initiative which is done as part of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality\u2019s development of human capital, and applications are invited from students of previously disadvantaged backgrounds. The Bursary Fund is intended to assist current or prospective students and shall be used towards covering tuition and registration fees, prescribed books, study material and accommodation. Successful applicants are expected to study full time at any accredited South African Tertiary institution preferably Eastern Cape based in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The following fields of study are considered:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0ENGINEERING<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Mechanical Engineerng <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Electrical Engineerng <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Civil Engineerng <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Analytical Chemistry <strong>\u2022 <\/strong>Biochemistry<\/p>\n<p><strong>FINANCE<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Valuation <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Supply Chain Management <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Accountancy and related fields<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLANNING AND ECONOMIC SCIENCES<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Land Survey <strong>\u2022<\/strong> City Planning <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Architecture <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Economic Development<\/p>\n<p><strong>INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Web development <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Program Analyst<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0AGRICULTURE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Rural Development <strong>\u2022<\/strong> Farming<\/p>\n<p>Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 30 November 2016 for a personal interview.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>WHO MUST APPLY?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students must be a bona fide resident of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Applicants must:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be South African citizens, permanently residing in Buffalo City<br \/>\nMetropolitan Municipality.<\/li>\n<li>Have a proof of residence when applying for the bursary.<\/li>\n<li>Provide proof of income of their family household.<\/li>\n<li>Be willing to work within Buffalo City after completing their studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SELECTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Selection criteria is based strictly on academic merit and successful<br \/>\napplicants are able to renew their bursaries annually based on their academic<br \/>\nperformance in the previous year. The student must have at least D in English C<br \/>\nin Mathematics and Science. The bursary fund has a clear bias towards<br \/>\nunderprivileged individuals and is targeting young people from 14 \u2013 35 years of<br \/>\nage. The Municipality is committed to advancing Employment Equity including<br \/>\npersons with disabilities and encourages students with disabilities to apply to<br \/>\nthe Bursary Fund.
