{"id":31437,"date":"2016-10-28T11:25:39","date_gmt":"2016-10-28T09:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=31437"},"modified":"2016-11-11T12:40:52","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T10:40:52","slug":"technology-implementation-data-support-internship-csir-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/technology-implementation-data-support-internship-csir-2016.html","title":{"rendered":"Technology Implementation and Data Support Internship at CSIR 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is a leading scientific and technology research organisation, implementing projects throughout Africa and making a difference in people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<div><strong>Internship<\/strong>: Technology implementation and Data Support<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>About <span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">the job<\/span><\/strong>: The CSIR has an opportunity for an <span id=\"IL_AD8\" class=\"IL_AD\">Internship<\/span> in the Transport Support Systems and Operations competence area within the Built Environment (BE) unit.<\/div>\n<div>The purpose of this job is to <span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">collect<\/span> and store data in relation to loading of heavy vehicles and to capture data collected during performance based standards (PBS) <span id=\"IL_AD10\" class=\"IL_AD\">certification<\/span> processes. This position is based in Pretoria, but travelling to other provinces for field work will be required.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Key responsibilities:<\/b><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Conduct data collection for PBS certification processes, which includes field work;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Capture collected data, making use of in-house developed technology;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Conduct basic data validation and data analysis through technology;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Compile scientific reports;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Present scientific results;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 <span id=\"IL_AD1\" class=\"IL_AD\">Install<\/span> and support CSIR <span id=\"IL_AD2\" class=\"IL_AD\">applications<\/span> to client\u2019s sites.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span id=\"IL_AD3\" class=\"IL_AD\">Qualifications<\/span>, skills and experience:<\/b><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 A Diploma or higher in <span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">information<\/span> technology, information systems, informatics or computer science\/engineering;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Experience in data validation and data analysis is a <span id=\"IL_AD5\" class=\"IL_AD\">requirement<\/span>;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Ability to use distance measuring instruments is essential;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Good communication skills, both verbal and written;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Ability to function independently and as part of a team;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Ability to perform under pressure and manage or contribute to projects within allocated time;<\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Must have a driver&#8217;s license and willing to undertake field trips on a regular basis.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Should you meet the above requirements, please email your CV to <a href=\"mailto:jobapplications@csir.co.za\"><b>jobapplications@csir.co.za<\/b><\/a> with your name and surname, position title and reference number in the subject line, (eg.
