{"id":33636,"date":"2016-11-17T11:29:52","date_gmt":"2016-11-17T09:29:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=33636"},"modified":"2016-11-17T11:29:52","modified_gmt":"2016-11-17T09:29:52","slug":"justice-reconciliation-internship-jra-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/justice-reconciliation-internship-jra-2016.html","title":{"rendered":"Justice and Reconciliation Internship at JRA 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Institute\u2019s Justice and Reconciliation in Africa Programme (JRA) partners around transitional justice and reconciliation initiatives in Southern Africa, the Great Lakes and the Greater Horn of Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Through collaboration, exchange, and dialogue, the programme seeks to build partnerships that support critical research and capacity-building in post-conflict situations, and the development of policy initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the Institute\u2019s engagements across Africa have grown substantially. Typically, they are based on invitations from partner <span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">countries<\/span>, including South Sudan, Uganda, the DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Zimbabwe and Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>IJR is looking to hire a dynamic, passionate and hard working intern to join this exciting team during 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Salary: R5 500 per month.<\/p>\n<p>The JRA intern will be required to assist in the following main areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ongoing research support to the Head of Programme and all Project Leaders, on political and socio-economic developments and on issues pertaining to justice and reconciliation in Africa in general and in countries of IJR engagement in particular<\/li>\n<li>Providing logistical and <span id=\"IL_AD5\" class=\"IL_AD\">event management<\/span> support for workshops and conferences<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with writing up of workshop \/ conference \/ programme reports<\/li>\n<li>Providing input and support to M &amp; E processes<\/li>\n<li>Assistance with data-capturing and analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements\/skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <span id=\"IL_AD1\" class=\"IL_AD\">postgraduate<\/span> degree (Honours or <span id=\"IL_AD3\" class=\"IL_AD\">Masters<\/span>) in Political Science, International Relations, African Studies, Peace Studies or a <span id=\"IL_AD9\" class=\"IL_AD\">related<\/span> discipline<\/li>\n<li>A demonstrated interest in issues pertaining to social, political and economic justice, reconciliation and development in Africa<\/li>\n<li>Excellent writing and analytical skills<\/li>\n<li>Full knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer<\/li>\n<li>Excellent internet research skills<\/li>\n<li><span id=\"IL_AD10\" class=\"IL_AD\">Ability<\/span> to take initiative, think creatively and work unsupervised for extended periods of time<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and deliver <span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">high quality<\/span> outputs on time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Documents required for <span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">application<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A 2-page <span id=\"IL_AD8\" class=\"IL_AD\">Curriculum Vitae<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>The full <span id=\"IL_AD2\" class=\"IL_AD\">contact details<\/span> of 2 contactable references<\/li>\n<li>A 1-page letter of motivation indicating why you wish to be an intern at IJR and in this particular programme<\/li>\n<li>An unedited writing sample (i.e. a university essay, article etc) of at least 3 pages in length, preferably on a topic broadly related to transitional justice issues.
