The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), established in 1936, is a public sector radio and TV broadcaster in South Africa.<\/p>\n
Television Broadcasting Radio Broadcasting The main object of the Corporation is to supply broadcasting and information services and services that are ancillary thereto, to the general public in the Republic of South Africa and beyond its borders and to achieve the objectives as set out in the Broadcasting Act 4 of 1999.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The SABC`s television network includes 3 free-to-air channels (SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3) and one pay-TV channel (SABC AFRICA).\u00a0 The free-to-air channels attract 17.5 million adult viewers daily combined, reaching 89% of the total adult TV-viewing population.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The SABC`s national radio network comprises 18 radio stations.\u00a0 15 are dedicated to public service broadcasting and include 11 full spectrum stations (one in each of the official languages of South Africa), a cultural service for the Indian community broadcast in English, a regional community station broadcast in isiXhosa and English and a community station broadcast in the !Xu and Khwe languages of the Khoisan people of the Northern Cape.\u00a0 The SABC has three stations in its commercial portfolio: 5fm, MetroFM and Good Hope FM.<\/p>\n
