{"id":34651,"date":"2016-11-29T16:58:49","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T14:58:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=34651"},"modified":"2016-11-29T16:58:49","modified_gmt":"2016-11-29T14:58:49","slug":"total-internship-programme-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/total-internship-programme-2017.html","title":{"rendered":"Total Internship Programme 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Wits University Law Clinic (WLC) seeks the services of a candidate attorney to work under the supervision of various attorneys within different operating legal units at the WLC.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>The WLC is a university-based law clinic at the University of the Witwatersrand (the University) <span id=\"IL_AD5\" class=\"IL_AD\">Law School<\/span> which is duly accredited by the <span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">Law Society<\/span> of South Africa and which provides practical legal training to final-year <span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">law students<\/span> and candidate attorneys; as well as legal advice and assistance to indigent or otherwise disadvantaged members of the public<\/div>\n<div><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting in strategic litigation cases<\/li>\n<li>Research in support of advocacy and litigation activities<\/li>\n<li>Conducting field research in communities<\/li>\n<li>Drafting pleadings and legal opinions<\/li>\n<li>Assisting in the drafting of research reports<\/li>\n<li>Providing input into draft policies and legislation<\/li>\n<li>Preparing documents for, and appearing in, court<\/li>\n<li>Liaison with clients, counsel and partners<\/li>\n<li>Representing CALS in <span id=\"IL_AD2\" class=\"IL_AD\">civil society<\/span> forums<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<div><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>LLB or equivalent degree<\/li>\n<li>A demonstrated interest in <span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">human rights<\/span> work and social justice<\/li>\n<li>A strong interest in research as a component of lawyering<\/li>\n<li>Good oral and written <span id=\"IL_AD3\" class=\"IL_AD\">communication skills in English<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in other South African languages will be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in MS Office<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>The closing date for submission of <span id=\"IL_AD1\" class=\"IL_AD\">applications<\/span> is 06 January 2017.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/irec.wits.ac.za\/OA_HTML\/OA.jsp?page=\/oracle\/apps\/irc\/candidateSelfService\/webui\/VisVacDispPG&amp;OAHP=IRC_EXT_SITE_VISITOR_APPL&amp;OASF=IRC_VIS_VAC_DISPLAY&amp;p_svid=62151&amp;p_spid=3153061\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Click here to apply online<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Wits University Law Clinic (WLC) seeks the services of a candidate attorney to work under the supervision of various attorneys within different operating legal units at the WLC.
