\nVACANCY: PROJECT INTERN POSITION NUMBER: PCF0287<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Assist in the research, design, development and implementation of computer software under supervision of a team leader on human language technology projects
\n\u2022 Integration of data into existing systems; active forum member for requests and bug-fixing; technical assistance; evaluation of system\/software and bug-fixing; updating of relevant documentation
\n\u2022 Research into applicable machine learning and language specific rule-based implementations of web services and machine translation<\/p>\n
\nA relevant tertiary qualification in Language Technology, Computational Linguistics, Computer Engineering or Computer Systems Development or other relevant field
\nOne year\u2019s programming experience in at least one of the following languages: C#, Java, Perl, or Python<\/strong>
\nJOB SPECIFICATION\u2026Other competency requirements:<\/strong>
\nComputer literacy
\nExperience in the use of different operating systems, including Windows and Linux
\nThe ability to master new software
\nGood organising abilities
\nA scientific writing style
\nThe ability to work well in a team and to adapt to the work structures of the team
\nThe ability to prioritise, manage and complete a variety of tasks in line with CTexT\u2019s goals
\nCreative problem-solving abilities
\nDemonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU<\/p>\n
\nOne year\u2019s experience in web development, including experience in JavaScript, MySQL, PHP
\nOne year\u2019s experience in text processing, creation of corpora and lexical databases would be an advantage<\/p>\n
