The Southern African Clothing & Textile Workers\u2019 Union (SACTWU) was established in September 1989, and today are the largest trade union for the textile, clothing, footwear and leather industry.<\/p>\n
SACTWU also manage the largest bursary fund in the trade union throughout the country. The bursary fund was initiated in 1975 and is awarded to members and their dependents<\/p>\n

\nThe bursary award will pay 75% of fees (to a max of R35 000 per annum) for university students; students will be required to pick up the remainder of the costs.<\/p>\n
\nApplicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:<\/p>\n
\nThe University\/ University of Technology where you are studying is registered with the National Department of Education (you can find more info here),
\nChild dependants may NOT be employed full-time,
\nMembers must be paid-up by 31 July (of the previous year).<\/p>\n

\n1 x colour photo (passport\/ ID size),
\nMember\u2019s ID document (certified copy),
\nMember\u2019s latest payslip (certified copy),
\nTertiary institution detailed statement of account for the current year of study (original\/ certified copy),
\nMatric results certificate (certified copy),
\nUp to date academic record (certified copy),
\nIf your parents surname is different from your own: an affidavit by the member (your parent) stating that they are your biological parent,
\nIf the member is your legal guardian: death certificate of biological parents, members marriage certificate, member and their spouses ID\u2019s, court order or confirmation of guardianship from the Department of Social Development,
\nIf the member is your spouse: marriage certificate and spouse ID (certified copies),
\nIf the member has been retrenched: an affidavit from them about their employment status,
\nStudents that are studying part-tome or via correspondence: affidavit stating your employment\/ unemployment status (and if employed, a recent payslip),
\nIf you are a child dependent: complete and submit the Application form to join SaSU (pdf).<\/p>\n
