The incumbent will assist with laboratory \u2013 based electronic designs and fieldwork. This position is based in Rosebank, Cape Town.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under supervision, the Trainee will assist with the following:<\/li>\n<li>T echnical engin eering tasks associated with the field of marine electronics, autonomous robotics and general technologies ;<\/li>\n<li>A ssembli ng and testing of electronic systems , sub \u2013 systems , laboratory \u2013 based design and construction;<\/li>\n<li>Executing s chematic drawings and printed circuit board designs;<\/li>\n<li>User interface, microcontrollers, embedded and high \u2013 end software;<\/li>\n<li>Installing, constructing, commissioning, wiring interfacing of electronic equipment\u2019s;<\/li>\n<li>Finding faults , repairing , testing and servicing of analogue and digital electronic equipment;<\/li>\n<li>Provid ing general support to qualified engineers and technicians ;<\/li>\n<li>Reporting on technical and administrative documentation;<\/li>\n<li>Procuring components and g eneral administrative tasks ;<\/li>\n<li>Servicing and piloting of existing robotics platforms .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently enrolled for a national diploma in electrical engineering (Light Current) and must have completed S1, S2, S3 and S4 theoretical blocks or must be currently busy with S4;<\/li>\n<li>Must have an i nterest in general technologies (mechanical design, 3D rendering);<\/li>\n<li>Hands \u2013 on practical approach to technical construction (application of theoretical knowledge);<\/li>\n<li>Willing and able to work for extended periods on research vessels at sea (Antarctica, local and international waters) ;<\/li>\n<li>An aware ness and interest in the environment and ocean technolog ies will be an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Should you meet the above requirements, please email your CV to <a class=\"apply\" href=\"mailto:jobapplications@csir.co.za\" target=\"_blank\">jobapplications@csir.co.za<\/a>\u00a0 with your name and surname, position title and reference number i n the subject line, (eg.
