{"id":35636,"date":"2017-03-14T17:56:11","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T15:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=35636"},"modified":"2017-03-14T17:56:11","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T15:56:11","slug":"internship-mining-geotechnical-engineering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/internship-mining-geotechnical-engineering.html","title":{"rendered":"Internship in Mining and Geotechnical Engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CSIR has five Internship opportunities in the Mining and Mineral Resources Competency Area within Natural Resources and the Environment Unit.<\/p>\n<p>(12 Months)<\/p>\n<p>The incumbents will assist in the duties mining and geotechnical engineering pertaining to activities associated with modernisation of current mining, development of future mechanisation requirements and ultimately developing a non-explosive rock breaking capability.<\/p>\n<p>The work forms part of the South African Mining Extraction Research, Development and Integration (SAMERDI) Strategy as well as the outcomes of the Mining Phakisa.<\/p>\n<p>These positions are based in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Under supervision, the trainee will undertake with the following:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Literature review of previous research done locally and internationally in the three areas mentioned above;<\/li>\n<li>Undertake time &amp; motion studies on technologies related to the above three areas at various mine sites;<\/li>\n<li>Engage with Original Equipment Management on technologies related to the above three areas at various mine sites;<\/li>\n<li>Report on processes and results;<\/li>\n<li>Attend and present on results where required;<\/li>\n<li>Perform general administrative tasks as required by project leaders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications, skills and experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A bachelor\u2019s degree in Geophysics or Mining Engineering;<\/li>\n<li>Experience or previous work in rock engineering would be an advantage;<\/li>\n<li>Practical working experience in mining would be an advantage;<\/li>\n<li>Good organisational skills and demonstrated ability to work under pressure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HOW TO APPLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Should you meet the above requirements, please email your CV to <a href=\"mailto:jobapplications@csir.co.za\">jobapplications@csir.co.za<\/a> with your name and surname, position title and reference number in the subject line, (e.g. John Smith: Internship \u2013 Mining and Geotechnical Engineering: Reference No: (307842)<\/p>\n<p>Closing date: 31 March 2017<\/p>\n<p>PLEASE NOTE THAT FEEDBACK WILL BE GIVEN TO SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES ONLY.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csir.co.za\/sites\/default\/files\/Documents\/Mining_and_Geotechnical_Engineering_Internship_Advert.pdf\" target=\"_new\"><u><strong>Click Here to VIEW FULL INTERNSHIP<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CSIR has five Internship opportunities in the Mining and Mineral Resources Competency Area within Natural Resources and the Environment Unit.
