In 2017 our work will focus on issues of economic crime during apartheid as well as public meetings on issues of corruption and state capture.<\/p>\n<p>Open Secrets seeks to appoint two Research and Administrative Interns, based in Cape Town.<br \/>\nDuration: Three to six\u00a0months from April 2017 (exact start day negotiable).<\/p>\n<p>This is envisaged as a full-time position, but could be structured as a part-time commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities include assisting in planning and organising a meeting on state capture and undertake research on historic and contemporary economic crime in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p><b>Responsibilities:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in planning and organising a meeting on state capture<\/li>\n<li>Undertake research on historic and contemporary economic crime in South Africa<\/li>\n<li>Read, summarise and <span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">archive<\/span> related books, articles and documents<\/li>\n<li>Write reports as well as related occasional articles for our website and social media platforms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span id=\"IL_AD5\" class=\"IL_AD\">Requirements<\/span>:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A committed team player with a strong work <span id=\"IL_AD8\" class=\"IL_AD\">ethic<\/span> and a commitment to social justice issues<\/li>\n<li>Strong organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong research and writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Studies in a related field (law, politics, history, economics, etc.) are preferable.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in international law issues are ideal<\/li>\n<li>Strong <span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">command<\/span> of basic Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Historically disadvantaged <span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">applicants<\/span> are encouraged to apply<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Location: Cape Town<br \/>\nClosing date: Friday, 31 March, 2017<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>To apply, submit your CV, copy of relevant <span id=\"IL_AD3\" class=\"IL_AD\">qualifications<\/span>, a copy of an unedited written work and <span id=\"IL_AD2\" class=\"IL_AD\">contact details<\/span> of one referee to\u00a0Michael\u00a0Marchant\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:researcher@opensecrets.org.za\"><b>researcher@opensecrets.org.za<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We use research advocacy and the law to hold people and institution who abuse power to account.
