The Studies in Poverty and Inequality Institute (SPII) is an independent, non-profit think tank, committed to the eradication of poverty and inequality in South Africa and the sub region.<\/p>\n

Through research they seek to develop innovative, evidence-based solutions that address the causes and consequences of poverty. SPII is rooted in the values of the South African constitution.<\/p>\n

The organisation believes that poverty undermines democracy and inhibits the development of society as a whole.<\/p>\n

SPII is seeks to appoint an Intern, based in SPII Offices, Newtown, Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

The Intern\u00a0will provide specific support to SPII, assisting with research and scoping of social protection policy framework in SADC, as well as contribute in electronic communication<\/span> with SADC BIG network partners as well as the Steering Committee.<\/p>\n

In addition, the intern will provide support for the Basic Needs Basket project through assisting the Coordinator with conducting a trend analysis on food price inflation from the data that is collected by SPII in collaboration with ACAOSA.<\/p>\n

This internship<\/span> position calls for both rigorous research and a passion for issues of social and economic justice.<\/p>\n

Start date<\/span>: Immediately<\/p>\n

The initial internship is for three months, which can be extended to six months through mutual agreement.<\/p>\n

SPII does not offer remuneration for internship positions<\/span>, a stipend will be provided for travel costs.
