{"id":35857,"date":"2017-03-31T13:16:51","date_gmt":"2017-03-31T11:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=35857"},"modified":"2017-03-31T13:16:51","modified_gmt":"2017-03-31T11:16:51","slug":"united-states-america-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/united-states-america-scholarship.html","title":{"rendered":"United States Of America Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nominations for the 14th class of the Nippon Foundation \/ General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) programme, are now open.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN OCEAN BATHYMETRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, USA (2017-2018)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This twelve month training course will take place at the University of Hampshire in the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Upon completing the course, students will receive a certificate in Ocean Mapping.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this programme is to train scientists and hydrographers in ocean bathymetry.<\/p>\n<p>GEBCO works with the scientific and hydrographic communities through the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Degree level<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Postgraduate (1 year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deadlines<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Application deadline is 31 March 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Applicants must:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Be available to start their studies in the USA from August 2017<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide the results of Test of English as a Foreign Language test, as proof that they will be able to successfully complete their studies in English<\/li>\n<li>Be in possession of a four year Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Science or Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Meet the minimum requirements for international students, as set by the Graduate School of the University of New Hampshire.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course content<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>The course syllabus includes:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Acoustics<\/li>\n<li>Positioning<\/li>\n<li>Satellite altimetry<\/li>\n<li>Sonar performance<\/li>\n<li>Survey design<\/li>\n<li>Uncertainty management<\/li>\n<li>Geology<\/li>\n<li>Margin and abyssal sediments<\/li>\n<li>Bottom composition and acoustic backscatter<\/li>\n<li>Structure of ocean basins<\/li>\n<li>Physical oceanography<\/li>\n<li>Data analysis and integration<\/li>\n<li>Surface interpolation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Application process<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Information on the application process is available on the website:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gebco.net\/training\/training_project\/\" target=\"_new\"><u><strong>Click Here<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What the scholarship covers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuition fees<\/li>\n<li>Stipend<\/li>\n<li>Computer hardware, software and textbooks<\/li>\n<li>Return flight ticket<\/li>\n<li>Return flight ticket and living expenses for one trip to obtain work experience at another institution active in bathymetry (subject to opportunities).<\/li>\n<li>Return flight and living expenses for the student to participate in a data collection cruise on a research or survey ship (subject to opportunities).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HOW TO APPLY<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalscholarships.dhet.gov.za\/Content\/USA\/NIPPON-Preliminary-Application-Form-2017.pdf\" target=\"_new\"><u><strong>Click Here to NIPPON preliminary application form 2017 Application form<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalscholarships.dhet.gov.za\/UNITEDSTATES.html\" target=\"_new\"><u><strong>Click Here to SCHOLARSHIP<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nominations for the 14th class of the Nippon Foundation \/ General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) programme, are now open.
