The United Nations Environment Programme<\/span> (UNEP) is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.<\/p>\n The UNEP Office Support internship<\/span> is for 6 months<\/span>.<\/p>\n The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.<\/p>\n Interns work five days per week (35-40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.<\/p>\n Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Core Competencies:<\/b><\/p>\n Client Orientation:<\/b> Education<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
\nUnder the direct supervision of the Head of UNEP Office in South Africa, the intern will:
\n\u2022Research, analyse and present information gathered from diverse sources to support the implementation of Regional Office for Africa (ROA) project activities in South Africa;
\n\u2022Support the review of project deliverables;
\n\u2022Assist with the organization of meetings and outreach events, developing necessary background materials, sourcing appropriate speakers, and report writing;
\n\u2022Support communication activities (e.g. draft stories for social media, Regional Office for Africa newsletter, etc);
\n\u2022Depending on the incumbent\u2019s skills and background (e.g. specific language skills), country- or region-specific research, and review tasks may be assigned;
\n\u2022Support other activities as requested.<\/span><\/div>\n

\na. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
\nb. Be enrolled in the final academic year<\/span> of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
\nc. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.<\/p>\n
