The organization facilitates policy development and dialogue in pursuit of sustainable and inclusive growth. TIPS has three main focus areas: Trade and Industrial Policy, Inequality and Economic Inclusion and Sustainable Growth.<\/p>\n<p>Its working\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">model<\/span>\u00a0integrates research and analysis, policy development, disseminating information,\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">capacity building<\/span>, technical support, and\u00a0programme design and management.<\/p>\n<p>TIPS seeks to appoint an intern to be based in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Starting date: 1 March 2018<\/p>\n<p>Salary: Competitive remuneration package is on offer<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD5\" class=\"IL_AD\">internship<\/span>\u00a0is to give young researchers the opportunity to acquire work experience, improve their research skills and enhance their understanding of the South African economy. The\u00a0internship\u00a0is structured to give exposure to issues of industrial development, trade and the green economy as well as work on policy orientated projects.<\/p>\n<p><b>Responsibilities:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform economic research under the guidance of the line manager, and provide research input and data analysis<\/li>\n<li>Participate in and present research at internal discussions and workshops\/events<\/li>\n<li>Publish research reports through the TIPS website, other publications, conferences, seminars, etc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Requirements:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Masters (completed or in final stages of completing) in Economics; Development Studies, Environmental Sciences, or a related field (with Economics III)<\/li>\n<li>A passion for industrial policy, inclusive economic development, and sustainable growth<\/li>\n<li>A study background on trade, industrial policy, the manufacturing sector and Sustainable growth<\/li>\n<li>Strong\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD8\" class=\"IL_AD\">communication skills<\/span>\u00a0in writing, editing and presentation, with an excellent command of written and spoken English<\/li>\n<li>Strong computer skills, with a proven ability to manipulate data in Excel and knowledge of Stata or SPSS<\/li>\n<li>Teamwork and an ability to handle tight deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Closing date: Friday, 16 February 2018<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>To apply, submit a short CV, a cover letter highlighting your interest for the position and how you match the\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD1\" class=\"IL_AD\">requirements<\/span>\u00a0as well as a writing sample to Edmore at\u00a0<b><a href=\"mailto:Edmore@tips.org.za\">Edmore@tips.org.za<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Only\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">applications<\/span>\u00a0with all of these components will be considered.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TIPS is a nonprofit economic research organization based in Pretoria, South Africa.
