{"id":39303,"date":"2018-02-26T11:34:54","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T09:34:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=39303"},"modified":"2018-02-26T11:34:54","modified_gmt":"2018-02-26T09:34:54","slug":"sanbi-biological-invasions-internship-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/sanbi-biological-invasions-internship-available.html","title":{"rendered":"SANBI Biological Invasions Internship Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"introtext\">\n<p>South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is offering a one-year internship to assist with the compilation of information on biological invasions in South Africa and to research quality and completeness of existing data and develop mechanisms for addressing key gaps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>The intern will assist in:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Digitising of permit records that were issued by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) and relevant provincial authorities for import of alien species into the country.<\/li>\n<li>Updating and curating databases of permit information related to biological invasions.<\/li>\n<li>Providing general support to the Reporting coordinator of National Status Report on Biological Invasions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who is eligible to apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We invite applications from graduates with an Honours degree in an appropriate Biological Science discipline as a qualification.<\/p>\n<p>A postgraduate study involving aspects of biological invasions and biodiversity information compilation will be an added advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates should have a good command of spoken and written English and another official language, have experience in MS Office, and ideally a code B driver\u2019s license with at least one-year driving experience.<\/p>\n<p>Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Value of internship:\u00a0The stipend offered is fixed at R7 150 per month (Honours completed) and R8\u00a0250 (Masters completed).<\/p>\n<p>No other benefits apply as this is an internship position.<\/p>\n<p>Location:\u00a0Cape Town<\/p>\n<p>Duration: April 2018 \u2013 March 2019<\/p>\n<p>Application procedure:\u00a0Please find\u00a0attached a cover sheet\u00a0to accompany the application.
