Eskom believes that this initiative will lead to empowered communities, an improved lifestyle, and a competent workforce.<\/p>\n<p>This procedure has been developed to enable Eskom to meet its business objectives regarding future skills requirements, thereby giving structure to the skills pipeline. To this end, bursaries based on business needs are awarded to candidates intending to study at recognized higher education institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Education is one of Eskom\u2019s most important investments. We firmly believe that by educating people, we develop them to compete on an equal basis thus ensuring a better and more productive workforce. Therefore, if you believe that you have what it takes, and then being part of the Eskom team is just for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Types Of Bursaries<\/strong><br \/>\nOur ever-expanding industrial, commercial, and mining activities, as well as the increased demand on the existing infrastructure, have already created an insatiable need for competent people, particularly in the fields of engineering, research, development, design, construction, and production functions.<br \/>\nTherefore a number of Eskom bursary schemes are available to assist capable students to acquire good education which is essential for a better future.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom bursary schemes offered are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Full Eskom Bursary, available to:\n<ul>\n<li>Academic deserving students<\/li>\n<li>South African citizen<\/li>\n<li>After completion of studies, to work-back obligation equal to contract duration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Scholarships, available exclusively to Eskom employees children\/dependents based on:\n<ul>\n<li>Academic deserving students<\/li>\n<li>Years of service by employee (minimum of 5years in service)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Fields Of Study<\/strong><br \/>\nEskom bursaries will be awarded for the following fields of study:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>University level:\n<ul>\n<li>Civil Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Electronic Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Accounting<\/li>\n<li>Supply Chain<\/li>\n<li>IT<\/li>\n<li>Computer Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Metallurgical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Chemical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Nuclear Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0University of Technology:\n<ul>\n<li>Electrical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Metallurgy<\/li>\n<li>Safety and Risk<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>TVET level:\n<ul>\n<li>Boiler Makers<\/li>\n<li>Control &amp; Instrumentation<\/li>\n<li>Electricians<\/li>\n<li>Fitters &amp; Turners<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical<\/li>\n<li>Millwrights<\/li>\n<li>Welders<\/li>\n<li>Plumbers<\/li>\n<li>Bricklayers<\/li>\n<li>Carpenters<\/li>\n<li>Power Plant Operators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Criteria<\/strong><br \/>\nIndividuals legible to apply must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must be South African citizens with a valid ID number<\/li>\n<li>National Senior Certificate or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Written proof of acceptance for admission by a higher education institution<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must be for full-time studies at an accredited South African institution<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must be willing to undergo an interview and medical examination or health declaration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements For University Level:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>English at level 5<\/li>\n<li>Physical Science at level 5<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics at level 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements For University Of Technology:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>English at level 4<\/li>\n<li>Physical Science at level 4<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics at level 4<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements For TVET Level:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>English at level 3<\/li>\n<li>Physical Science at level 3<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics at level 3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants that are already at Higher Institution must have passed all their registered subjects in that current year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Applications should be submitted to Eskom\u00a0by no later than 31 July each year, for the\u00a0following academic year.<\/li>\n<li>Applications should preferably be submitted online. Applicants who do not have internet access can also post their application or hand-deliver them to the nearest Eskom offices.<\/li>\n<li>All applicants shortlisted to attend an interview will be notified. Notification is done telephonically as well as per written correspondence.<\/li>\n<li>Selection interviews normally take place from August to October each year. Applicants will be required to attend an interview and sometimes a medical declaration\/examination might be done.<\/li>\n<li>Final selection and award is subjected to a successful interview, satisfactory academic results and medical fitness.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants will be told of the outcome\u00a0from\/between October to December\u00a0of that year.
