{"id":40175,"date":"2018-05-02T10:54:22","date_gmt":"2018-05-02T08:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=40175"},"modified":"2018-05-02T10:54:22","modified_gmt":"2018-05-02T08:54:22","slug":"csir-internship-mechanical-engineering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/csir-internship-mechanical-engineering.html","title":{"rendered":"CSIR Internship In Mechanical Engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CSIR has an Internship opportunity for an\u00a0Intern: Mechanical Engineering\u00a0in the Aeronautic Systems group within the Defence Peace Safety and Security unit.<span style=\"font-size: 33px; font-weight: 900;\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this position is design work in Additive Manufacturing (AM) \/ 3D printing and thereby providing the incumbent with practical work experience in the AM field. This position is based in Pretoria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the internship, the successful candidate will be involved in the mechanical design of wind tunnel models, mechanical testing and the design of polymer articles.<\/p>\n<p><u>The work will include:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prediction of failure modes and calculation of stresses;<\/li>\n<li>Procurement of test articles;<\/li>\n<li>Work with Polymer additive manufacturing and metal additive manufacturing;<\/li>\n<li>Acquisition, set-up, and testing of polymer article;<\/li>\n<li>Investigation and application of surface finishing techniques;<\/li>\n<li>Responsibility to meet project timescales.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Qualifications, skills and experience:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in mechanical engineering;<\/li>\n<li>Must be proficient in the SolidWorks CAD package;<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experimental experience will be an advantage;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to follow instructions and work on fixed timescales;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills;<\/li>\n<li>Be an enthusiastic and a self-motivated individual;<\/li>\n<li>Take ownership of certain tasks and take initiative in their position;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well under pressure as well as to work as part of a team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Willingness to work in a military research environment that serves both local and international clients and stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>South African citizenship and security clearance are required for this position.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/candidate.csir.co.za\/psp\/hr91prd_cgw\/EMPLOYEE\/HRMS\/c\/HRS_HRAM.HRS_CE.GBL?Page=HRS_CE_JOB_DTL&amp;Action=A&amp;JobOpeningId=309130&amp;SiteId=1&amp;PostingSeq=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE: Internship: Mechanical Engineering<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CSIR has an Internship opportunity for an\u00a0Intern: Mechanical Engineering\u00a0in the Aeronautic Systems group within the Defence Peace Safety and Security unit.\u00a0 \u00a0 The purpose of this position is design&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[21],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
