Streetlight Schools realises this vision by launching schools in inner-city communities in Johannesburg, including its first school, Streetlight: Jeppestown.<\/p>\n<p>Streetlight Schools\u00a0seeks to appoint an Intern, based in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Internship<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Johannesburg<br \/>\n<strong>Report to:<\/strong> School Leader<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the teaching teams in one classroom activities<\/li>\n<li>Prepare learning and teaching resources<\/li>\n<li>Take on break duties according to the school&#8217;s need, ensuring a safe and positive environment for the children during breaks and that students have access to engaging play activities<\/li>\n<li>Take on extracurricular, aftercare and play based activities<\/li>\n<li>Adapt and practice the responsive classroom principles with the students<\/li>\n<li>Take initiative and contribute to an inclusive and positive working environment among staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Studying towards a Teaching degree. Preferably in 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0or 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0year tertiary<\/li>\n<li>No experience will learn on the job<\/li>\n<li>Interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate and interact with others in the school<\/li>\n<li>Ability to show initiative and be proactive<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to adhere to the school\u2019s values, culture and pedagogical approaches.<\/li>\n<li>Prove excellent skills and ability to take care of and socialise with the students as well as the school staff<\/li>\n<li>Appropriate training in the use of ICT packages<\/li>\n<li>Ability to prioritise and manage issues and work tasks, organisation skills, ability to meet deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Desire to work in low-income communities in an urbanising environment<\/li>\n<li>Ability to relate well to children and adults and promote the school in the wider community<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work constructively as part of the team of Streetlight Schools, willing to engage in building an innovative and effective learning environment for children<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in spoken and written English<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in one or more indigenous South Africa Language<\/li>\n<li>Strong Leader<\/li>\n<li>Nurturing, kind and caring<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to work beyond official working times when required<\/li>\n<li>Show Love, Respect, Professionalism, Innovation, Dedication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit CV and cover letter to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:jobs@streetlightschools.org\">jobs@streetlightschools.org.<\/a>\u00a0Please put the job title in the subject line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>15th June, 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Streetlight Schools, is a nonprofit whose vision is to provide the neediest children the most innovative, effective and transformative teachers and schools to help them unlock their full potential.
