The goal of Africa Check\u2019s work is to raise the quality of information available to society across the continent. Since 2012 they have fact-checked hundreds of claims on topics from crime and race in South Africa to population numbers in Nigeria and fake health cures in countries around Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Fundraiser for Individual Donations<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Johannesburg<\/p>\n<p>To be responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive individual donor programme to increase the organisation\u2019s individual donations and support. The role will manage all aspects of the donation process, including the strategy for donor\/prospect acquisition through broad-based appeals that generate significant revenue. He\/she will also provide support to the Fundraising Manager in developing and maintaining Africa Check\u2019s institutional and corporate donor programmes.<\/p>\n<p>Key responsibilities for this position include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing and implementing of the organisation\u2019s individual donor strategy with long and short-term donation goals, including for donations from general supporters and a high-net worth individual donor plan, including donors outside South Africa<\/li>\n<li>Setting realistic fundraising targets to fixed deadlines, agreed in consultation with key staff, and achieving them<\/li>\n<li>Developing appropriate materials (brochures, promotional materials, appeals and online content) to support every aspect of the individual donations plan<\/li>\n<li>Managing all correspondence and reporting to prospects and donors, in liaison with the Impact Manager<\/li>\n<li>Identifying, cultivating and soliciting individuals for general operating support, event sponsorship, volunteer programmes, and\/or publicity, in liaison with the Community Manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Fundraiser for Individual Donations<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>must be able to demonstrate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum 10 years of experience with donor identification, project-management, relationship-building, and fundraising experience, particularly individual donors with non-profit organisations<\/li>\n<li>Experience running successful campaigns, cultivating and closing individual donations and developing individual donor strategies in South Africa<\/li>\n<li>Experience of also developing funding from donors outside South Africa would be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of internal and external constituents<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding written and verbal skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to analyse issues, identify priorities, manage projects and make decisions expeditiously<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of moves management and effective fundraising pipeline development<\/li>\n<li>Experience with research tools and developing donor research profiles<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively as part of a small close-knit team<\/li>\n<li>Experience with nonprofit fundraising software would be an advantage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>View the full job description and application instructions on the Vacancies page at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.actionappointments.co.za\/\">www.actionappointments.co.za<\/a>\u00a0and email your application by\u00a0<strong>Monday\u00a011<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0June\u00a02018\u00a0<\/strong>to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:tracy@actionappointments.co.za\"><strong>tracy@actionappointments.co.za<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Check is a non-profit organisation set up in 2012 to promote accuracy in public debate and the media in Africa.
