No benefits apply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duration:\u00a0<\/strong>1 December 2018 \u2013 30 November 2019<\/p>\n<p>Two one-year work-integrated learning placement opportunities are available at our Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden from 1 December 2018 \u2013 30 November 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The students will gain hands on experience in nature conservation and have the opportunity to work with specialists in the field. The programme includes exposure in the following estate functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Patrols<\/li>\n<li>Data collection<\/li>\n<li>Research<\/li>\n<li>The management plan for the estate<\/li>\n<li>The Kirstenbosch Biodiversity database<\/li>\n<li>Guided tours<\/li>\n<li>Surveys<\/li>\n<li>Environmental education and outreach<\/li>\n<li>Conservation-related field trips<\/li>\n<li>Alien plant eradication<\/li>\n<li>Trails maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Occupational health and safety management<\/li>\n<li>Waste control<\/li>\n<li>Fire management<\/li>\n<li>Memorial bench and woodwork maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Fence maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Conservation-related displays<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of living fauna display<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:\u00a0<\/strong>Students who are self-motivated and enthusiastic and have completed their first and second year subjects are encouraged to apply. Good grades will be a strong advantage. Note that this programme is only applicable to students registered for Nature Conservation.\u00a0 Students who have already graduated need not apply.<\/p>\n<h3>How To Apply<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Application procedure:\u00a0<\/strong>Please complete the attached\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanbi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/SANBI-Nature-Conservation-WIL-application-Kirstenbosch-June-2018.doc\">application form<\/a>. Applications should include a CV; letter of interest; goals while training at SANBI; letter of recommendation from lecturers or supervisors; letter from university stating that you need to complete work-integrated learning and certified copies of your results.
