The Bulungula College will open in 2019 when it will accept Grade 10 learners. In 2020 it will expand to include Grade 11 and aims to cater for Grade 12 learners by 2021. Bulungula College is our next step to making high-quality education available to our community members. We have multiple teaching posts for those aspiring to join the team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Teaching Positions<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>JOb Location: Eastern Cape<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT US\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bulungula College (BC) is a non-fee paying Independent High School. It is governed by the philosophy of its mother organization, the Bulungula Incubator (BI). The BI is a rural development not-for-profit organization, based on the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape, in the former Transkei. Our programmes are concentrated into four focus areas: Education, Sustainable Livelihoods, Health and Nutrition and Vibrant Villages. Our vision is to be a catalyst for the creation of vibrant and sustainable rural communities. In partnership with our community, government, NGO\u2019s and other innovative thinkers, the Bulungula Incubator aims to achieve our vision through finding synergies between traditional rural African culture, and external technologies and innovations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POSITION OBJECTIVE\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bulungula College is looking for suitably qualified and dynamic individuals to be part of our education team. The Bulungula College will open in 2019 when it will accept Grade 10 learners. In 2020 it will expand to include Grade 11 and it aims to cater to Grade 12 learners by 2021. The Bulungula College is our next step in making high-quality education available to our community members. Bulungula College is looking for individuals who can present at least two of the following School Subjects, competently:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IsiXhosa Home Language (HL)<\/li>\n<li>English First Additional Language (FAL)<\/li>\n<li>Life Orientation<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics<\/li>\n<li>Life Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Agriculture Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Business Studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PERFORMANCE AREAS AND ACTIVITIES\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Duties and responsibilities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of the Subject<\/li>\n<li>To have expert knowledge of the subject area<\/li>\n<li>To pursue relevant opportunities to grow professionally and keep up-to-date about the current knowledge and research in the subject area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Training<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To plan and prepare appropriately the assigned learning program<\/li>\n<li>To conduct assigned classes at the scheduled times<\/li>\n<li>To demonstrate competence in classroom instruction<\/li>\n<li>To implement the designated curriculum completely and in due time<\/li>\n<li>To plan and implement effective classroom management practices<\/li>\n<li>To design and implement effective strategies to develop self-responsible\/independent learners<\/li>\n<li>To promote learners\u2019 intrinsic motivation by providing meaningful and progressively challenging learning experiences which include, but are not limited to: self-exploration, questioning, making choices, setting goals, planning and organizing, implementing, self-evaluating and demonstrating initiative in tasks and projects<\/li>\n<li>To engage learners in active, hands-on, creative problem-based learning<\/li>\n<li>To provide opportunities for learners to access and use current technology, resources and information to solve problems or integrate relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction<\/li>\n<li>To provide opportunities for learners to apply and practice what is learned<\/li>\n<li>To engage learners in creative thinking and integrated or interdisciplinary learning experiences<\/li>\n<li>To build learners\u2019 ability to work collaboratively with others<\/li>\n<li>To adapt instruction\/support to learners\u2019 differences in development, learning styles, strengths and needs<\/li>\n<li>To vary instructional roles (e.g. instructor, coach, facilitator, co-learner, audience) in relation to content and purpose of instruction and learners\u2019 needs<\/li>\n<li>To maintain a safe, orderly environment conducive to learning<\/li>\n<li>To demonstrate preparation and skill in working with learners from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.<\/li>\n<li>To comply with requirements for the safety and supervision of learners inside and outside the classroom<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Assessment<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To define and communicate learning expectations to learners<\/li>\n<li>To apply appropriate multiple assessment tools and strategies to evaluate and promote the continuous intellectual development of the learners<\/li>\n<li>To assign reasonable assignments and homework to learners as per Bulungula College rules<\/li>\n<li>To evaluate learners\u2019 performances in an objective, fair and timely manner<\/li>\n<li>To record and report timely the results of quizzes, assignments, mid- and final semester exams<\/li>\n<li>To use learner assessment data to guide changes in instruction and practice, and to improve learner learning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Professionalism<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To be punctual and be available at Bulungula College during official working hours<\/li>\n<li>To comply with policies, standards, rules, regulations and procedures of the Bulungula College<\/li>\n<li>To prepare and maintain relevant portfolios or files<\/li>\n<li>To take precautions to protect the Bulungula College records, equipment, materials, and facilities<\/li>\n<li>To participate responsibly in the Bulungula College improvement initiatives<\/li>\n<li>To attend and participate in scheduled meetings including departmental staff development meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to Bulungula College policy<\/li>\n<li>To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff<\/li>\n<li>To participate in partnerships with other members of the Bulungula College\u2019s community to support learner learning and the college-related activities<\/li>\n<li>To demonstrate the ability to perform teaching or other responsibilities, including good work habits, reliability, punctuality and follow-through on commitments<\/li>\n<li>To provide and accept evaluative feedback in a professional manner<\/li>\n<li>To create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment<\/li>\n<li>To carry out any other related duties assigned by the College head or any designated person<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Good Behaviour and good role model<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To model honesty, fairness and ethical conduct<\/li>\n<li>To model a caring attitude and promote positive interpersonal relationships<\/li>\n<li>To model correct use of language, oral and written<\/li>\n<li>To foster learner self-control, self-discipline and responsibility to others<\/li>\n<li>To model and promote empathy, compassion and respect for the gender, ethnic, religious, cultural and learning diversity of learners<\/li>\n<li>To demonstrate skill when managing learner behavior, intervening and resolving discipline problems<\/li>\n<li>To model good social skills, leadership and civic responsibility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Leading and participating in extra curricula activities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Willing to coach and or participate in the extra mural activities forming part of the Bulungula passion for rural development work is essential<\/li>\n<li>A university degree in education is required.
