HEARD\u2019s mission is to influence and support evidence-based policy and good practice to more effectively address Africa\u2019s health and development challenges and to contribute to achieving health and sustainable development across the continent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Communication and Marketing Officer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban<br \/>\n<strong>REF:<\/strong> CM 2018<\/p>\n<p>This is a one year fixed term contract<\/p>\n<p>The Communication and Marketing Officer\u00a0will be responsible for communicating the organisation\u2019s research endeavours and maintaining its reputation as a credible and effective research organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Marketing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with senior management to develop and implement a marketing strategy<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for planning, managing and implementing all marketing initiatives and activities<\/li>\n<li>Identify marketing and communications collaboration opportunities with relevant partners,<\/li>\n<li>organisation<\/li>\n<li>Produce marketing materials, plan and coordinate marketing activities, to support research<\/li>\n<li>projects and overall marketing strategy<\/li>\n<li>Plan, implement and monitor all social media marketing communications activities adhering to<\/li>\n<li>organisational strategy and ethos<\/li>\n<li>Create, plan, and publish high-level content for various print and digital platforms<\/li>\n<li>(website, social media, email, press)<\/li>\n<li>Work with external designers, developers, printers\/service providers and agencies to meet<\/li>\n<li>marketing needs<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate all activities with UKZN Corporate Affairs and PR department, research partners<\/li>\n<li>and relevant collaborating institutions<\/li>\n<li>Manage media and PR events and activities<\/li>\n<li>Brand leadership and compliance<\/li>\n<li>Develop, implement and manage relevant marketing standard operating procedures (style guides,<\/li>\n<li>website, events, social media etc)<\/li>\n<li>Build and maintain key contacts and networks<\/li>\n<li>Track media coverage<\/li>\n<li>Monitors budgets by comparing and analysing actual results with plans and forecasts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Communications<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Revise, update and implement communication strategy<\/li>\n<li>Plan, coordinate and implement internal and external communications initiatives and<\/li>\n<li>activities<\/li>\n<li>Concept and content development, design, writing, editing\/proof reading layout to print<\/li>\n<li>(newsletters, annual reports, policy briefs etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Manage Intranet<\/li>\n<li>Develop, update and maintain website<\/li>\n<li>Support researchers with communications skills and knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain internal communications<\/li>\n<li>Keeps management informed by preparing reports when requested (web analytics, social, events<\/li>\n<li>etc)<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with people involved in advocacy work to ensure a synergy between the HEARD<\/li>\n<li>communication and marketing strategy and the advocacy strategy<\/li>\n<li>Support senior management through various communications and marketing activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Knowledge Exchange<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support and maintain SRHR knowledge sharing platform<\/li>\n<li>Make use of digital tools to maximise global and local exchange opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tertiary Qualification in media, communications, journalism or public relations<\/li>\n<li>One years\u2019 experience in a similar role<\/li>\n<li>Write skills to support marketing and communications activities<\/li>\n<li>Understanding digital communications and marketing<\/li>\n<li>Social media management and growth<\/li>\n<li>Editing, proof reading, layout, digital and print design<\/li>\n<li>Content development and planning<\/li>\n<li>Event management<\/li>\n<li>SEO<\/li>\n<li>Analytics and Reporting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit application form\/s to Robyn-Lee Wagner at\u00a0<strong>heardhr@ukzn.ac.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>download the application form\/s here\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.heard.org.za\/about\/careers\/\">www.heard.org.za\/about\/careers\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Only candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Only applications on the provided application form will be considered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>6th July 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HEARD, based the University of KwaZulu-Natal is a regional and global leader for applied research and policy development on critical health and development challenges for the African continent.
