This is a full-time, two-year contract position with the possibility of extension.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and manage the finance team<\/li>\n<li>Ensure effective financial\/accounting policies and procedures, developing and implementing best practice finance and administrative systems<\/li>\n<li>Manage and prepare accurate financial and quantitative reports including narrative reports<\/li>\n<li>Manage, prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements<\/li>\n<li>Lead and oversee the preparation of annual budgets, activity based workplans, programme budgets, ad hoc special purpose budgets and proposals<\/li>\n<li>Grant management, compliance and donor reporting as per grant agreement requirements<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with various role players, both locally and abroad<\/li>\n<li>Manage restricted and unrestricted funds<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that separate cost centres (programmes) and systems are in place to monitor spending against budget and planned performance deliverables<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and assist with external audits<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with auditors and preparing year-end AFS and audit packs<\/li>\n<li>Manage investments, assets registers, insurance coverages and claims<\/li>\n<li>Maintain contracts database<\/li>\n<li>Manage all property related matters, including acquisitions, leases, disposals and appointments of outside consultants as and when required<\/li>\n<li>Manage, prepare and present financial reports at board meetings (bi-annually)<\/li>\n<li>Ensure statutory compliance<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties, as and when requested, in support of team goals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Commerce Degree, with accounting as a major<\/li>\n<li>Honours \/ CPA \/ CA advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five years proven financial administration experience, in a management role<\/li>\n<li>Familiar with administering finances in dual-funded NGO, donor and government funding<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Pastel accounting software<\/li>\n<li>Excellent financial report writing skills<\/li>\n<li>A team player who is dynamic with a mature personality, high integrity, confident, able to work accurately and under pressure with minimum supervision<\/li>\n<li>Professional, enthusiastic, highly flexible and a people orientated person with sound interpersonal, organisational, planning and time-management skills<\/li>\n<li>Sound computational and administrative skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong personal accountability and commitment<\/li>\n<li>Ability to make sound business decisions<\/li>\n<li>Self-starter with strong problem solving and analytical skills<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates leadership skills through ownership of projects and proactive support<\/li>\n<li>Enthusiasm to work in a culturally diverse organisation<\/li>\n<li>All candidates must be legally able to work and reside in South Africa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recommendations:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Familiarity with a university environment<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in an accounting firm<\/li>\n<li>Experience in Accpac and\/or Sage ERP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Commencement of duties:<\/strong>\u00a01 September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter<\/p>\n<p><strong>Closing Date:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Open until filled<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enquiries:\u00a0<\/strong>Prof. Barry Green \u2013\u00a0<strong>bwg@aims.ac.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For more information on AIMS please visit\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aims.ac.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.aims.ac.za<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Prospective candidates must submit a detailed CV, together with the names of at least two referees and a covering letter motivating their application to: The Director, AIMS South Africa, 6 Melrose Road, Muizenberg, 7945, or electronically to\u00a0<strong>financepost@aims.ac.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>An application which does not comply with the above requirements will be regarded as incomplete.
