{"id":41534,"date":"2018-07-12T09:10:13","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T07:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=41534"},"modified":"2018-07-10T13:32:22","modified_gmt":"2018-07-10T11:32:22","slug":"aims-south-africa-new-job-position","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/aims-south-africa-new-job-position.html","title":{"rendered":"AIMS South Africa New Job Position"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is an innovative, pan-African network of centres of excellence for post-graduate education, research and outreach, which has achieved global recognition since opening its first centre in South Africa in 2003.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Finance Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AIMS South Africa, located in Muizenberg, invites applicants for the position of\u00a0<strong>Finance Officer<\/strong>, to work on a range of projects and be responsible for performing key finance functions within these projects. This is a full-time, one-year contract position, with the possibility of extension.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensuring that purchase orders, sundry payment requests and foreign payment requests are placed and processed effectively<\/li>\n<li>Following up on the payment of invoices and handling account queries<\/li>\n<li>Processing of debtors and donations invoices<\/li>\n<li>Compiling and preparing financial reports, budgets and forecasts<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, policies and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with inventory control<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with external vendors, other departments and relevant staff<\/li>\n<li>Capturing of accounting data<\/li>\n<li>Performing of adhoc related duties as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A relevant post-school qualification<\/li>\n<li>At least 5 years of working experience in a related field and\/or similar<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a team and independently<\/li>\n<li>Strong problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Sound computational, organisational, planning and administrative skills<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility, patience and willingness to go the extra mile<\/li>\n<li>Strong personal accountability and commitment<\/li>\n<li>Enthusiasm to work in a culturally diverse organisation<\/li>\n<li>Experience in Accpac and\/or Sage ERP<\/li>\n<li>Excellent financial report writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to take on new work and adapt as the position grows<\/li>\n<li>All candidates must be legally able to work in South Africa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recommendations:\u00a0<\/strong>Familiarity with a university environment<\/p>\n<p><strong>Commencement of duties:<\/strong>\u00a01 August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enquiries:\u00a0<\/strong>Ms Deborah Wilsnagh, tel. 021-7879341 or<strong>\u00a0dwilsnagh@aims.ac.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For more information on AIMS please visit\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aims.ac.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.aims.ac.za<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Prospective candidates must submit a detailed CV, together with the names of at least two referees and a covering letter motivating their application to: The Finance and HR Manager, AIMS South Africa, 6 Melrose Road, Muizenberg, 7945, or electronically to<strong>\u00a0financepost@aims.ac.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>An application which does not comply with the above requirements will be regarded as incomplete.
