It seeks to spark and embed a culture of reading across South Africa, so that reading, writing, and sharing stories \u2013 in all South African languages \u2013 is part of everyday life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the\u00a0Story Powered Schools<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Margate, KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p>\n<p>The position is dependent on donor funding, and there is potential to extend if funding is renewed.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>This person will work closely with the Margate-based project team and Cape Town-based M&amp;E team to fulfill the following tasks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee, enforce and troubleshoot smooth implementation of the project M&amp;E cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Refine existing data collection tools and processes, and develop new tools as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure M&amp;E processes and requirements are aligned with and fully integrated into the SPS project implementation cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct data verification, data quality assurance and ensure integrity of project data.<\/li>\n<li>Analyse project data to inform, troubleshoot and strengthen project implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Compile regular reports for Literacy Mentors, Provincial Coordinators and project management.<\/li>\n<li>Compile quarterly dashboards, milestone reports and annual reports for the project funder.<\/li>\n<li>Compile reports for the education department officials and schools.<\/li>\n<li>Manage, support and upskill data clerk.<\/li>\n<li>Train and support Literacy Mentors and Story Sparkers to use M&amp;E tools, processes and quality assurance procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Working with Cape Town-based Research &amp; Innovation team, develop research instruments, conduct quality assurance visits at schools, and write up findings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>University degree or equivalent in data management, development studies, economics or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>Masters degree and\/or diploma in M&amp;E strongly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>At least two years\u2019 M&amp;E and\/or data management experience in the education or community development sector.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced MS Excel skills required.<\/li>\n<li>Experience using Salesforce cloud-based platform strongly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>English report writing skills and presentation skills.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitation and training skills.<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license strongly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Fluent in isiXhosa and\/or isiZulu.<\/li>\n<li>Independent and driven self-starter, able to work proactively and independently.<\/li>\n<li>Focused, efficient person, able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with strong time management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>Strong planning, decision making and problem solving skills.<\/li>\n<li>A team player, with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with donor monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements, particularly for USAID and\/or in large-scale rural development or education projects, is advantageous.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit your motivational letter and CV to\u00a0<strong>work@nalibali.org<\/strong>\u00a0with your name and surname, position title on the subject line.<\/p>\n<p>Note that feedback will be provided to shortlisted candidates only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>20th July, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nal\u2019ibali (isiXhosa for \u201chere\u2019s the story\u201d) is a national reading-for-enjoyment campaign.
