The Society\u2019s mission is to promote evidence-based, quality HIV healthcare in Southern Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Project Director<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Johannesburg<\/p>\n<p>The Society seeks to appoint a\u00a0Project Director for the Stop Stockouts Project, in its transition to an independent organisation, working closely with the SAHCS CEO and SSP Steering Committee, to be\u00a0based in\u00a0Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>The Stop Stockouts Project (SSP) is a collaboration of several organisations dedicated to improving health in South Africa. The goal is to ensure reliable availability and access to medicines and medical supplies in South Africa. This project will be run as is for the final of a three year EU grant, during which time it will establish itself as an independent organisation, thus will require someone who has set up and directed an NPO in the past.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement the project\u2019s overall strategic direction; oversee campaigns that arise out of this programme<\/li>\n<li>Develop expertise on the supply chain management and practical responses to fix problems in it; oversee case management; community mobilisation under TAC and maintain communications with members of Government, civil society and the media<\/li>\n<li>Report to a steering committee comprised of dedicated members of each the founding organisations<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for the SSP reporting-process, including financial oversight<\/li>\n<li>Overall, this leader will provide programmatic oversight and support, including strategic planning; programme evaluation; donor and internal liaison, compliance with donor requirements and reporting; and provision of support to SSP staff and members<\/li>\n<li>It is also the responsibility of the Project Director to manage certain future grants from identification through proposal-writing and grants management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Programme Management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set up the company and ensure all statutory and legislative compliance, including NGO\/NPC application confirmed<\/li>\n<li>Develop the strategy for SSP and work with the consortium to create a succinct company to encapsulate all the stakeholder requirements<\/li>\n<li>Understand all the requirements from the donors and ensure processes and procedures are in place to meet these requirements<\/li>\n<li>Identify key programme gaps and the mechanisms to address these.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the project is resourced correctly to meet all the deliverables and the requirements from the consortium and the donor<\/li>\n<li>Manage relations with the Department of Health at National, Provincial and District Level<\/li>\n<li>Represent SSP at meetings, conferences, events and training sessions and arrange technical meetings with key stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Prepare proposals, budgets, donor reports, internal reports, press statements and social media commentary, etc<\/li>\n<li>Implement monitoring strategies for SSP<\/li>\n<li>Produce timely and accurate reports on the above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Implementation of Programmes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Project manage the SS Project using effective project management methodology as required<\/li>\n<li>Project manage the medicine stock outs programme, including managing partner organisations<\/li>\n<li>Project manage the new medicines programme, including managing partner organisations<\/li>\n<li>Project manage the annual survey, including data analysis and writing of report<\/li>\n<li>Identify skill, funding and other resource shortfalls, and suggest strategies to resolve these where necessary, with active sourcing of potential donors, partners and supporters<\/li>\n<li>Report to donors (through Society CEO)\n<ul>\n<li>Draft funding proposals and assist in the compilation of budgets<\/li>\n<li>Respond to donor queries relating to SSP in conjunction with the SAHCS CEO<\/li>\n<li>Ensure contractual obligations and financial requirements of donors are met, this is to be done in conjunction with the SAHCS finance department and CEO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Compile and collate narrative and annual reports in consultation with the SAHCS CEO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>General<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend and participate in SAHCS meetings, organisational reviews and planning as well as other meetings that relate to the work of SAHCS<\/li>\n<li>Any ad hoc job functions that may be required by SAHCS within reason and skill level<\/li>\n<li>Initiate SSP independence and move from SAHCS CEO as point of support to Steering Committee as Board of Directors source of support by December 2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree BPharm or Bsc. Nursing or equivalent essential<\/li>\n<li>Masters in Public Health and\/or other relevant discipline an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Project Management qualification essential<\/li>\n<li>Experience in managing an organisation<\/li>\n<li>Three years\u2019 experience as a Pharmacist or Nurse working with medicines<\/li>\n<li>10 years\u2019 practical work experience, preferably with an NGO, implementation-focused donor or development organisation<\/li>\n<li>Experience and\/or knowledgeable of the HIV\/AIDS sector<\/li>\n<li>Experience managing projects in communities and working with Government<\/li>\n<li>Experience and knowledge of working with diverse donors<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with international donor requirements<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in spoken and written English<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in at least one other African language<\/li>\n<li>Project management skills, including planning, analytical and report-writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong research and organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>Leadership skills: Strong decision-making, strategic thinking, problem-solving coordination capacity building and conflict management<\/li>\n<li>Administration and budgeting skills<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy and competence in Microsoft Office software package and data information management systems<\/li>\n<li>Driver\u2019s licence is essential<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility to travel (up to 60%) and willingness to work beyond official working times<\/li>\n<li>Communication (including public speaking), interpersonal and listening skills<\/li>\n<li>Time management and multi-tasking<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under extreme pressure<\/li>\n<li>Meticulous with good attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivation, ability to take make decisions initiative and work without supervision<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in spoken and written English<\/li>\n<li>South African language (isiZulu or Sotho) or other languages spoken in Africa (Portuguese or French) is an added benefit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit a CV and covering letter to\u00a0<strong>sahivsoc@sahivsoc.org\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you have not heard from us within four weeks after the closing date of this advert, please consider your application unsuccessful<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>27th July, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Southern African HIV Clinicians Society is a nonprofit membership organisation of over 3 000 healthcare workers with an interest in HIV.
