The Informal Economy Support Programme (IESP) is the cutting edge initiative which is co-funded by the Jobs Fund, eThekwini and Department of Small Business Development, is now in its second, up-scaled phase (of a three-year duration) following a successful pilot phase. The IESP supports selected, high potential micro and informal enterprises (MIEs) in order to stimulate business growth and job creation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Enterprise Development Specialist for the Informal Economy Support Programme<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Durban<br \/>\n<strong>Salary:\u00a0<\/strong>R 300 000 to R375 000 per annum (total cost to company) depending on skills and experience<br \/>\n<strong>Start date:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0August or September 2018<br \/>\n<strong>Duration:<\/strong>\u00a0A 30-month contract, the position is Durban-based. A probationary period will apply<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assess candidate MIEs and ensure that only those which are viable and high-potential are selected for IESP support by making use of specified criteria (e.g. entrepreneur commitment and track record, business viability and job creation potential)<\/li>\n<li>Establish realistic business development plans for each selected and assigned MIE which can deliver the intended business growth and job creation target (this will be done collaboratively with each entrepreneur to ensure that they \u2018own\u2019 the business development plan)<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that effective business development support (and\/or on-site, customised training) is provided to each assigned MIE. This support must be provided in terms of a business development plan and within a pre-defined cost, time and scope envelope per enterprise and directly linked to a specific job creation target. This support may be provided either directly by the incumbent and\/or via a panel of specialists<\/li>\n<li>Directly provide some of the aforementioned business support services (and\/or on-site, customised training) to MIEs. Specific areas of specialisation may include (but are not limited to) those listed in the table of specialisations available on the PPT website<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the job creation target for each assigned MIE is met within the approved cost envelope (as per the business development plan and signed agreement with the MIE)<\/li>\n<li>Provide high quality reports including progress reports, enterprise profiles and case study learning (and utilising IESP templates and project tools)<\/li>\n<li>Undertake or assist with monitoring and evaluation<\/li>\n<li>Work effectively with diverse external stakeholders (MIEs, Municipality, Dept. Small Business Development, established business etc.) and IESP project team<\/li>\n<li>Assist the assigned Programme Coordinator in managing and coordinating project activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of three to five years\u2019 experience with micro and informal enterprise development including the provision of business support services, enterprise diagnosis, and business development plans<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of three to five years\u2019 practical experience in some of the areas of specialisation contained in the attached table<\/li>\n<li>Experience and understanding of the informal economy and MIEs<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated and self-managing<\/li>\n<li>Conceptual and report-writing skills and numeracy<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and strategic skills<\/li>\n<li>Communication and people skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong skills in planning, organising and team-work<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with diverse stakeholders (government, NGOs, private sector, communities etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Ability to develop new opportunities, strategic relationships and secure funding<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the developmental environment, conditions and stakeholders in KZN<\/li>\n<li>Ability to develop promotional materials including use of social media<\/li>\n<li>Valid S.A. driver\u2019s licence and own car<\/li>\n<li>Business development and team-work abilities<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Durban-based<\/li>\n<li>Zulu-speaking<\/li>\n<li>A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. business, development economics, marketing, accounting, human resources etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Existing relationships\/networks with key KZN stakeholders (e.g. communities, government, professionals, NGOs)<\/li>\n<li>More than five years\u2019 relevant work experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience in social facilitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit a CV, cover letter, completed table of specialisations, and copies of educational qualifications to\u00a0<strong>info@pptrust.co.za\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To download the table of specialisations on page three of the advert please visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pptrust.org.za\/enterprise-development-specialist-position-available-for-informal-economy-programme\/\">http:\/\/www.pptrust.org.za\/enterprise-development-specialist-position-available-for-informal-economy-programme\/<\/a>\u00a0[Please indicate those areas in which you specialise on the table which appears on page three of the advert.]<\/p>\n<p>PPT reserves the right not to appoint anyone to this position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>31 July, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Project Preparation Trust of KZN (PPT) specialises in the preparation of pro-poor development projects.
