Oxpeckers is Africa\u2019s first journalistic investigation unit focusing on environmental issues. The Center combines traditional investigative reporting with data analysis and geo-mapping tools to expose eco-offences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Intern<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>File weekly data requests to appropriate agencies<\/li>\n<li>Train communities and stakeholders to use and share the tool<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to journalistic investigations<\/li>\n<li>Compile blogs<\/li>\n<li>Manage social media platforms on a daily basis<\/li>\n<li>Crowdsourcing information<\/li>\n<li>Weekly updating of map data and document repositories<\/li>\n<li>Take part in and doing presentations at stakeholder meetings<\/li>\n<li>Develop new relationships while maintaining current working relationships<\/li>\n<li>Identify collaboration opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Compile quarterly feedback statistics and reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Journalism experience<\/li>\n<li>Environment-related degree or experience<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of technology, data and geospatial disciplines<\/li>\n<li>Research, writing and communication skills<\/li>\n<li>The ability to innovate and problem solve<\/li>\n<li>A disciplined, professional and independent personality<\/li>\n<li>A driver\u2019s licence, and preferably own transport<\/li>\n<li>The freedom to travel on assignment<\/li>\n<li>A laptop and cellphone<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English and at least one Nguni language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, \u00a0please fill\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdCPReLejDH7M6J2h_b_OfmQnK02khAEhUzVAFt4zzlqjT8zw\/viewform?usp=pp_url\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this\u00a0form<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>30th July, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oxpeckers is a nonprofit company that aims to dramatically improve the quality and impact of African environmental journalism.
