{"id":41860,"date":"2018-07-25T09:20:11","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T07:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=41860"},"modified":"2018-07-24T13:18:38","modified_gmt":"2018-07-24T11:18:38","slug":"treatment-action-campaign-job-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/treatment-action-campaign-job-opportunity.html","title":{"rendered":"Treatment Action Campaign Job Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) engages in monitoring, advocacy and access to quality comprehensive prevention, treatment, care and support services to live\u00a0a healthy life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Research Officer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:<\/strong>\u00a0To be based in Gauteng<br \/>\n<strong>Job Purpose:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe purpose of this position is to carry out evidence-based research, analysis and policy positioning and subsequent dissemination of that information to support TAC campaigns. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Policy research and development;<\/li>\n<li>Local, national, international policy monitoring;<\/li>\n<li>Dissemination of information publicly;<\/li>\n<li>Training and development of TAC staff and members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carry out policy research and development on health, science, legal, social and political issues relevant to TAC;<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring the state of the healthcare system and implementation of the National Strategic Plan (NSP) on HIV, TB and STIs;<\/li>\n<li>Dissemination of key research information into the public domain to support TAC campaigns;<\/li>\n<li>Training and development of TAC members and staff based on the issues outlined in the Research and Policy Strategy;<\/li>\n<li>Design, coordinate and conduct research studies that are relevant to or commissioned by the TAC leadership;<\/li>\n<li>Develop sound technical briefs to influence shifts in policy, practice and strategic shifts in the area of HIV\/AIDS intervention programmes;<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical and managerial oversight to all research and evaluation study processes as well as consultants\u2019 performance (when required);<\/li>\n<li>Keep abreast of developments around research and evaluation approaches to ensure the application of these take place in TAC\u2019s research and evaluation methods;<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to TAC\u2019s Knowledge Management and M&amp;E functions and practices, ensuring that key research issues are included (including statistics and trends) and ensuring synergy across departments and functions;<\/li>\n<li>Pro-actively seek new resources with TAC knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation to strengthen TAC\u2019s links with member organisations, relevant bodies, institutions and stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum graduate degree in Social Science, Public Health, Economics, Science, Medicine or other relevant field;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent proficiency in English &#8211; another South African language will be beneficial;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the South African public healthcare system, the HIV and TB responses, and relevant science related to HIV and TB;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of South Africa\u2019s governance system, policy development and legal system;<\/li>\n<li>Strong proven experience in research or investigative data collection;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills: preferably with previous communication experience;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to translate complex information &#8211; such as clinical studies, research papers and surveys \u2013 into simple, accessible material;<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to use online platforms such as WordPress (website), MailChimp (online mailing), and social media\u00a0 platform;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent attention to detail;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and under pressure;<\/li>\n<li>Good healthy work ethic and able to work to deadline;<\/li>\n<li>Adaptable and flexible during pressurised times;<\/li>\n<li>Able to trouble shoot and deal with urgent matters speedily.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The closing date for all applications is the\u00a0<strong>31 July 2018.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply, submit your cover letter, detailed CV, copy of a valid driver\u2019s license, matric certificate, qualifications and 3 contactable references by e-mail to\u00a0<strong>manti.mngadi@tac.org.za.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Contact will be made with shortlisted candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Treatment Action Campaign is guided by principles of employment equity; women and people with disability are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) engages in monitoring, advocacy and access to quality comprehensive prevention, treatment, care and support services to live\u00a0a healthy life.
