We are the support operation through which the University &#8211; primarily its Faculty of Health Sciences &#8211; conducts research, manages donor-funded activities, pursues entrepreneurial innovation in health and supports clinical trials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Grant Accountant<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Johannesburg<br \/>\n<strong>Main purpose of the job<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To lead the provision of effective operational support services to all staff and sites, specifically in the areas of financial management, donor liaison and organizational administration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><br \/>\n24 St. Andrews Road, Parktown<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key performance areas<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure adherence to the financial policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Effective review and approval of general ledger entries, journal entries, audit files and balance sheet reconciliations.<\/li>\n<li>Effective management of accounting support staff.<\/li>\n<li>Budget preparation and management.<\/li>\n<li>Provide financial advice.<\/li>\n<li>Compile accurate and comprehensive financial and donor reports.<\/li>\n<li>Liaison with all relevant stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Effective compliance with donor requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Effective self-management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required minimum education and training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BCom Accounting or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required minimum work experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 3 years financial reporting experience in a healthcare or donor funded environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional education, work experience and personal abilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working in a donor-funded organization\/NGO will be an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Must have knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and accounting package is desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Must have a dynamic and compatible personality able to deal with clients, donors and staff at all levels.<\/li>\n<li>Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.<\/li>\n<li>The environment may at times be busy and need excellent management skills and attention to details.<\/li>\n<li>May be required to work overtime and to travel to various sites.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Should you be interested in applying for this vacancy, clearly state which vacancy you are applying for and forward your detailed CV to:\u00a0<strong>Nomonde Gaju<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0<strong>ngaju@witshealth.co.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The closing date for all applications is 07 August 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (WHC) is wholly-owned by the University of the Witwatersrand.
