South Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Financial Accountant<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Johannesburg<br \/>\n<strong>Salary:\u00a0<\/strong>This will be negotiated based on years of experience<br \/>\n<strong>Report to:<\/strong> The Finance Manager<\/p>\n<p>This a full-time post.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the position is to ensure that funds are managed and accounted for in an effective, transparent and sustainable manner.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Finance and Cashflow Management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement appropriate systems for finance management<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the organisation\u2019s finances are managed and accounted for in an effective, transparent and sustainable manner, in accordance with IFRS<\/li>\n<li>Review monthly general ledger accounts<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all relevant journals are processed on a monthly basis<\/li>\n<li>Ensure relevant and accurate monthly management accounts are prepared and submitted to the respective unit managers, as well as, assisting with queries on the accounts<\/li>\n<li>Review and approve the organisation\u2019s annual financial statements<\/li>\n<li>Manage cash flows of the organisation<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the organisation\u2019s bankers, when necessary<\/li>\n<li>Identify areas for potential cost savings<\/li>\n<li>Review the effectiveness of accounting and reporting systems on an ongoing basis to identify areas for enhancement<\/li>\n<li>Ensure financial policies and procedures are up to date and complied with<\/li>\n<li>Ensure spending is undertaken with due regard to value for money and identifying areas for costs savings<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the preparation of financial documents and presentations for management, funder and board requirements<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all source documents are appropriately filed and files are properly labelled to facilitate retrieval of documents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Budgeting<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the respective units with the preparation of their budgets<\/li>\n<li>Review all unit budgets for accuracy and reasonableness<\/li>\n<li>Prepare expenditure forecasts for the organisation<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the respective units are provided with the necessary technical support during the budgeting process<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the collation of budgets for submission to the Board for approval<\/li>\n<li>Monitor monthly actual expenditure against budgets, identifying variances and ensuring that the necessary follow up action is taken, including expenditure from franchisors<\/li>\n<li>Assist the unit managers with ongoing budget management<\/li>\n<li>In consultation with the Finance Manager, preparing budgets for proposal submissions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Audits<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake audit preparations to ensure an efficient, effective and successful statutory external audits<\/li>\n<li>Manage all other audits and external reviews<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that audit findings are timeously resolved, prior to the commencement of the next year\u2019s audits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Payments<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage processing of invoices<\/li>\n<li>Authorise EFT payments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Payroll and HR<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare monthly payroll report<\/li>\n<li>Review payroll records<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all staff expense claims are handed in timeously for payroll processing<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with the relevant SARS requirements<\/li>\n<li>In collaboration with HR, providing support on the HR system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Invoicing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the debtor\u2019s age analysis on a regular basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fixed Assets<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that assets are adequately insured<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the fixed asset register<\/li>\n<li>Conduct periodic fixed asset counts<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all assets are tagged for identification purposes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Grants Management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that grant\/social investment funds are properly managed and accounted for<\/li>\n<li>Prepare funder reports, and ensuring timeous submission thereof<\/li>\n<li>Prepare all other financial information and documents required by funders<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with funder contractual requirements<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that disbursement requests to funders are timeously submitted<\/li>\n<li>Build and strengthen relationships with funders<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with funders and attending funder meetings, when necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Procurement and Contract Management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor compliance with procurement policies and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Review procurement policies and procedures on an ongoing basis to identify areas for enhancement<\/li>\n<li>Oversee tender processes, including the development of tender dossiers<\/li>\n<li>Ensure adequate documentation of procurement processes undertaken by the organisation<\/li>\n<li>Review contracts and participating in contract negotiations to ensure that the organisation\u2019s interests are protected and risks effectively managed<\/li>\n<li>Manage service providers \/ suppliers to ensure that deliverables are in accordance with the terms and conditions of signed contracts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Risk Management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that financial risks are identified and effectively managed through the implementation and monitoring of appropriate accounting procedures, sound internal controls and good governance structures<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that staff are provided with efficient and effective support \/ assistance from the finance unit<\/li>\n<li>Conduct training for staff on organisational policies and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Prepare presentations and reports, as and when required<\/li>\n<li>Take part in regular team reflection and review sessions<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the work of the design and development team in enhancing the SmartStart<\/li>\n<li>Attend required internal and external meetings to report on progress and to gain an insight into the challenges and opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A bachelor&#8217;s degree in accounting plus articles<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of three to five years\u2019 work experience in an accounting\/finance environment<\/li>\n<li>Experience in the NGO and \/ or development sector would be advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Work under pressure and as a team member<\/li>\n<li>Establish and maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Provide the inspiration, direction and incentives required for team success<\/li>\n<li>Create an environment conducive to learning and development<\/li>\n<li>Embrace diversity and ensure fairness<\/li>\n<li>Focus on optimising own and manner<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Sage One (including the inventory system), Sage 300 People and Pastel Partner<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge on E-filing and all relevant taxation submissions<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the VAT Act<\/li>\n<li>Handle technical journal entries relating to income and income in advance on a monthly basis<\/li>\n<li>Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence<\/li>\n<li>Strong planning and organisation skills<\/li>\n<li>Meticulous and ability to pay attention to
