{"id":42069,"date":"2018-08-07T11:24:11","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T09:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=42069"},"modified":"2018-08-07T11:39:50","modified_gmt":"2018-08-07T09:39:50","slug":"desmond-tutu-hiv-foundation-dthf-new-job-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/desmond-tutu-hiv-foundation-dthf-new-job-opening.html","title":{"rendered":"Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) New Job Opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) is a registered nonprofit organisation focused on the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training and prevention of HIV and related infections in Southern Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Research Counsellor<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Tutu Teen Truck Mobile Clinic, Philippi Village, Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>This is a 12 months fixed-term contract<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a welcoming and supportive environment to adolescent clients regardless of race, gender, or HIV status<\/li>\n<li>Provide basic HIV \/ ARV \/ PrEP education to participants individually and in groups<\/li>\n<li>HIV testing<\/li>\n<li>Provide pre and post-test counselling, as well as risk reduction counselling, if necessary<\/li>\n<li>Accurate and complete questionnaire administration<\/li>\n<li>Follow-up telephone calls with study participants<\/li>\n<li>Recruite participants for research studies on the TEEN TRUCK<\/li>\n<li>Consent participants into research studies following GCP guidelines<\/li>\n<li>Assist with community surveys<\/li>\n<li>Assist with filing research forms and patient files<\/li>\n<li>Maintain strict client confidentiality<\/li>\n<li>Capture study data on mobile app<\/li>\n<li>Weekly and Monthly progress reports on research participation (recruitment, enrollment and retention)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grade 12<\/li>\n<li>HIV counselling course or relevant voluntary HIV counselling and testing (VCT) experience, including Finger pricking<\/li>\n<li>One to two years\u2019 research related experience<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel and Outlook)<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English and Xhosa<\/li>\n<li>Verbal and interpersonal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions<\/li>\n<li>Ability to function in a team<\/li>\n<li>Must be detail orientated<\/li>\n<li>Planning and organising skills<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working with adolescent in the health sector will be advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Relevant experience with PrEP\u00a0will be advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Passion Innovation Progress Integrity Respect Excellence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit CV, motivation letter with certified copy of highest qualification and details of three current contactable referees to Attention HR Manager\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:Jobs@hiv-research.org.za\">Jobs@hiv-research.org.za,<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>reference: #DTHF\/C044.<\/p>\n<p>Incomplete applications will not be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.<\/p>\n<p>Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation is committed to equity in our employment practices.
