The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) is a registered nonprofit organisation focused on the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training and prevention of HIV and related infections in Southern Africa.<\/p>\n
Job Title:<\/strong>\u00a0Research Counsellor<\/strong> \nJob Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Tutu Teen Truck Mobile Clinic, Philippi Village, Cape Town.<\/p>\n
This is a 12 months fixed-term contract<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\n
Provide a welcoming and supportive environment to adolescent clients regardless of race, gender, or HIV status<\/li>\n
Provide basic HIV \/ ARV \/ PrEP education to participants individually and in groups<\/li>\n
HIV testing<\/li>\n
Provide pre and post-test counselling, as well as risk reduction counselling, if necessary<\/li>\n
Accurate and complete questionnaire administration<\/li>\n
Follow-up telephone calls with study participants<\/li>\n
Recruite participants for research studies on the TEEN TRUCK<\/li>\n
Consent participants into research studies following GCP guidelines<\/li>\n
Assist with community surveys<\/li>\n
Assist with filing research forms and patient files<\/li>\n
Maintain strict client confidentiality<\/li>\n
Capture study data on mobile app<\/li>\n
Weekly and Monthly progress reports on research participation (recruitment, enrollment and retention)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Requirements:<\/p>\n
\n
Grade 12<\/li>\n
HIV counselling course or relevant voluntary HIV counselling and testing (VCT) experience, including Finger pricking<\/li>\n
One to two years\u2019 research related experience<\/li>\n
Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel and Outlook)<\/li>\n
Fluency in English and Xhosa<\/li>\n
Verbal and interpersonal communication skills<\/li>\n
Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions<\/li>\n
Ability to function in a team<\/li>\n
Must be detail orientated<\/li>\n
Planning and organising skills<\/li>\n
Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends<\/li>\n
Experience of working with adolescent in the health sector will be advantageous<\/li>\n
Relevant experience with PrEP\u00a0will be advantageous<\/li>\n
