The Law Centre also aims to develop young, skilled attorneys and law graduates in public interest litigation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Candidate Attorney for Bertha Justice Fellowship\u00a0programme<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in strategic litigation cases<\/li>\n<li>Research in support of advocacy and litigation activities<\/li>\n<li>Conduct field research in communities<\/li>\n<li>Draft pleadings and legal\u00a0 opinions<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the drafting of research reports<\/li>\n<li>Provide input into draft policies and legislation<\/li>\n<li>Prepare documents for, and appearing in, court<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with clients, counsel and partners<\/li>\n<li>Represent EELC in civil society and public forums<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An LLB degree (completed by January 2019)<\/li>\n<li>A demonstrated interest in human rights work and social\u00a0justice<\/li>\n<li>A strong interest in research as a component of lawyering<\/li>\n<li>Oral and written communication skills in English<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in other\u00a0South African languages will be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office<\/li>\n<li>Ability to make a two year\u00a0commitment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply submit to<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:info@eelawcentre.org.za\">info@eelawcentre.org.za<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>with the subject Candidate Attorney 2019 application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A covering letter motivating why you have the necessary motivation, qualifications, skills and experience for this position as well as the names and contact details of two referees<\/li>\n<li>A detailed CV<\/li>\n<li>A writing sample of no longer than five pages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please\u00a0note that we are looking for candidates who\u00a0wish to pursue a career in social\u00a0justice\u00a0in particular rather than just securing\u00a0articles.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals from previously and\u00a0currently disadvantaged population groups are particularly encouraged to\u00a0apply.<\/p>\n<p>Please\u00a0note that only\u00a0shortlisted candidates will be\u00a0contacted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>31 August, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) focuses on public interest litigation and advocacy to advance the right to basic education in South Africa.
