As a leader in the Sport for Development field, GRS uses the power of soccer to connect young people with the mentors, information and health services they need to thrive, and empowers adolescents to make educated choices about pressing health challenges such as HIV and AIDS, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender-based violence. GRS&#8217;s evidence-based programmes, led by trained local Coaches, incorporate soccer into dynamic lessons about health and wellness that engage young people and break down cultural barriers. With proven results and a constant focus on research and innovation, GRS has reached over 2 million young people in 51 countries with adolescent-friendly health education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Project \/ Programme Intern<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Department:<\/strong> Research and Curriculum Team<br \/>\n<strong>Reports To:<\/strong> Technical Advisor, Gender &amp; Curriculum<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Cape Town, South Africa<br \/>\n<strong>Dates:<\/strong> 1 September 2018 with 1-year contract<\/p>\n<p>Position includes a monthly Stipend<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Project\/Programme Intern will provide support in the development and revision of GRS products including curricula. This position will also help to develop effective and efficient systems for preparation and execution of curricula and interventions. Curriculum development work will include close collaboration with training staff to create and refine curriculum and training tools for GRS programmes. This position will work in partnership with all departments to continually improve intervention and training design, delivery, and content.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Curriculum Project Support<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with the development and production of materials for curricula and intervention tools (Coaches guides, Coaching Resources and Training Curricula) for workshops, trainings and events (copy edit, source visuals and diagrams).<\/li>\n<li>Compile data and lessons learned to inform future curriculum creation.<\/li>\n<li>Research country-specific SRHR information to ensure most relevant issues are addressed and updated in curricula, prepare summary and make recommendations.<\/li>\n<li>Design curriculum tools, as appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Support the execution and evaluation of pre-testing of new curriculum and intervention types.<\/li>\n<li>Manage curriculum literature in the office library and Google Drive.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct focus group discussions with coaches, participants, and master coaches to gather curriculum feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the development of sport-based health magazines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Workshop Support<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with the delivery of Curriculum Development Workshops (CDWs).<\/li>\n<li>Work with teams to prep for workshops (i.e. proof reading materials, printing curricula)<\/li>\n<li>Assemble materials for workshops (curricula, soccer balls, cones, T-shirts, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Programme Support<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with teams to support the planning, execution and evaluation of programmes<\/li>\n<li>Assist in report writing and programme reviews<\/li>\n<li>Assist with arranging logistics for meetings and workshops<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Specific projects<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with the creation, formatting and dissemination of the weekly Scouting Report.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to posters, presentations and abstracts for conferences or special events.<\/li>\n<li>The intern will be assigned a specific project based on their specific strengths, experience, and interests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>General Support<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with reconciling receipts for the curriculum team.<\/li>\n<li>Compile programme expenses and complete monthly expense reports.<\/li>\n<li>Provide design support for the M&amp;E team and communication team as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with logistics for team member travel including booking accommodation, venue, food and printed materials.<\/li>\n<li>Edit and print event-related documents.<\/li>\n<li>Purchase team-related supplies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Great attitude and problem solving skills required<\/li>\n<li>Certificate or Diploma is required, preferably with demonstrated strong academic performance<\/li>\n<li>Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required<\/li>\n<li>Graphic design experience desired<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in InDesign desired<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with youth education programmes, teaching, participatory learning, facilitation and\/or sports education a plus<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to spend up to 80% of the time in the office and 20% of the time in the field<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work across all levels of the organization and function in a diverse team-oriented environment<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication with relational skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organizational skills with passion for fine details<\/li>\n<li>Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently<\/li>\n<li>Passion for and commitment to Grassroot Soccer\u2019s mission<\/li>\n<li>Must be eligible to work in South Africa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed.
