Reinsurance operates globally through two segments which Property &amp; Casualty and Life &amp; Health.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Underwriting Internship Opportunity At Swiss Re<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Strong expectation to take ownership of learning &amp; development by utilizing Swiss Re&#8217;s extensive knowledge resources. Will learn to provide accurate and consistent risk selection on a timely basis through original case underwriting.<\/p>\n<p>This will include exposure to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Life &amp; health insurance product knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Medical knowledge in the context of underwriting<\/li>\n<li>Financial underwriting<\/li>\n<li>Occupation and part time activities underwriting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Will be expected to learn and maintain departmental standards in line with Swiss Re Life &amp; Health underwriting principles. Expected to learn, engage and contribute in our broader business including with other job functions.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum Matric including biology\/Life sciences at grade 12.<\/li>\n<li>University graduate (or similar) preferred. Commerce or health care (or related e.g. occupational therapy, physiotherapy, biosciences) majors preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Strong ability to work and develop knowledge &amp; skills independently.<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivator taking ownership of performance and personal development.<\/li>\n<li>Decision-making and problem solving capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Effective oral and written communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interact positively and effectively with others.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent networking skills.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to represent Swiss Re on a professional basis with various clients and industry groups.<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable using computers and other technology.<\/li>\n<li>Strong command of English essential.<\/li>\n<li>Portuguese\/French and Swahili will be an advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Strong desire for further career growth and to develop further than just these job requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internship end date:<\/strong> April 2020<\/p>\n<p>Preference will be given to designated applicants as per the employment equity act.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keywords: Reference Code:<\/strong> 76522<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Closing Date:<\/strong> August 30, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swiss Re Reinsurance is seeking a graduate to take part in their underwriting internship.
