of climate change.\u00a0CSA helps local communities protect these natural habitats that support their livelihoods by helping them to acquire skills and implement initiatives help protect nature and counteract the effects of climate change and other activities that negatively affect livelihoods and put species at risk of extinction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Executive Director<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Johannesburg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide the strategic and programmatic direction of the country programme<\/li>\n<li>Identify opportunities and trends for the achievement of the institutional goals<\/li>\n<li>Be responsible for senior-level programme management and ensure that programme strategies, initiatives and outcomes advance Conservation International&#8217;s (CI) human development and conservation priorities<\/li>\n<li>Lead the design, implementation and integration of programme strategies throughout the country program and integrated across CI<\/li>\n<li>Provide broad programmatic, project, monitoring and technical oversight and continuously engages key internal and external partners critical to program success<\/li>\n<li>Represent CI in the country and have a key role in building alliances, a central focus for CI strategy<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that CI\u2019s work is presented effectively to donors and key stakeholders to ensure strategic and sustainable partnerships<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with CI policies, programme and funding agreements and local requirements<\/li>\n<li>Be responsible for managing the country programme and all its component projects, leading the team, raising funds and managing financial and other resources<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the programme is integrated with CI\u2019s strategic fundraising and partnership goals and work in collaboration with CI headquarters-based technical and operations units to support the needs of the field programmes<\/li>\n<li>Manage staff, interdisciplinary teams, and\/or outside partners<\/li>\n<li>Work with a high degree of independence and serve as a technical expert in CI\u2019s multidisciplinary approach to conservation<\/li>\n<li>Exercise creativity and strategic thinking to efficiently manage the country programme and build the local capacity within environments that are complex and full of challenges<\/li>\n<li>Develop programme strategies, objectives, work plans and metrics<\/li>\n<li>Provide strategic oversight and team leadership to effectively implement programme activities and ensure high-impact outputs<\/li>\n<li>Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team ensuring effective communication, instilling organisational values and behaviors and creating a work environment that attracts, develops and retains talent<\/li>\n<li>Lead programme alignment and integration with division and CI-wide conservation priorities<\/li>\n<li>Engage CI leadership and other senior staff<\/li>\n<li>Directly oversee and ensure programme compliance with CI policies, funding agreements and local requirements<\/li>\n<li>Enable CI to promote national institutional and policy frameworks for development, that favor biodiversity conservation, and to support national capacity for conservation in CI field programmes<\/li>\n<li>Continuously cultivate and engage stakeholders including donors, government and NGOs, technical colleagues and other partners critical to programme success<\/li>\n<li>Represent CI in South Africa and build alliances with governmental and non-governmental organisations to support CI outcomes, serving as a trusted and visible point of contact for CI<\/li>\n<li>Champion opportunities for programme growth and development<\/li>\n<li>Ensure programme financial sustainability by setting fundraising strategy, securing programme funding and managing financial resources<\/li>\n<li>Regularly partner with CI and HQ staff on funding proposals including coordinating and finalising the writing of funding documents (proposals and budgets), and regional\/global fundraising efforts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>People and Resource Management Responsibilities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Directly supervise programme and project staff, including overseeing the work of external partners<\/li>\n<li>Manage the programmes budget and finances<\/li>\n<li>Manage public or private funds, ensure compliance with donor requirements and CI policies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced degree in biological, environmental, social science, international development, business or related field with not less than 10 years of work experience in management position in conservation-related work<\/li>\n<li>Senior-level programme or project management experience, preferably in the global conservation, NGO, advocacy or related for-profit arena of not less than five years<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of three to five years\u2019 experience supervising others including multi-disciplinary teams<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to achieve programme goals with a high level of creativity and strategic thinking, to efficiently manage, and to build local capacity within extremely complex, challenging environments<\/li>\n<li>Flexible and results-oriented with a high level of resourcefulness to deal with constant changes as a result of local social and economic circumstances<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects or initiatives involving multiple internal and external stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Superb technical and analytical skills<\/li>\n<li>Organisation and time management skills<\/li>\n<li>Proven leadership skills and success in effectively inspiring and engaging diverse works groups in a multicultural environment<\/li>\n<li>Written and verbal communication skills in English<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in any of South Africa\u2019s other official languages is an added advantage<\/li>\n<li>A record of success partnering with, and influencing, key stakeholders and successfully raising funds<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to multitask and meet priorities<\/li>\n<li>Adept
