OSF-SA is committed to promoting the values, institutions and practices of an open, non-racial and non-sexist, democratic civil society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Programme Manager\u00a0in the\u00a0Research and Advocacy\u00a0Unit\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<\/p>\n<p>He\/she will manage a team of at least two programme officers who will directly report to him\/her. The RAU proactively designs various interventions on topics that change from time-to-time, but which relate broadly to OSF-SA\u2019s mission. The Programme Manager will primarily be responsible for the design, planning and implementation of such interventions aligned to the strategic focus of OSF-SA.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge across, and understand key issues in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Economic inclusion, inequality and economic policy with a focus on women and youth<\/li>\n<li>Extractive Sector Governance<\/li>\n<li>Land Reform and Rural Development<\/li>\n<li>Social Accountability Methodologies<\/li>\n<li>The South African Media, Civil Society and the Judiciary<\/li>\n<li>Human Rights and Public Sector Governance<\/li>\n<li>Legislative and regulatory processes and how to use advocacy to influence policy<\/li>\n<li>Community Engagement<\/li>\n<li>Develop and update the RAU\u2019s strategy periodically in accordance with organisational processes.<\/li>\n<li>Implement the RAU\u2019s strategy to guide and prioritise the work of the programme so that it contributes meaningfully to the overall objectives of OSF-SA.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and manage all aspects of the RAU including at least two direct reports.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee all of the Unit\u2019s programmes and projects.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and manage the Unit\u2019s annual budget, work plan, spend plan and other relevant documentation annually and present these to the Executive Director and Board.<\/li>\n<li>Identify, conceptualise and execute operational projects and initiatives such as research, publications, workshops, roundtables, conferences, training, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Lead project monitoring and evaluation.<\/li>\n<li>Lead on collaborating with partners, OSF-SA grantees, other donors, other OSF thematic programmes and other stakeholders to ensure that these relationships support the Unit\u2019s objectives and contribute to influencing policy.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct and manage research and advocacy that is in line with the strategic focus of the OSF-SA.<\/li>\n<li>Lead and develop the programme team so that they can achieve their work objectives within timelines.<\/li>\n<li>Organise seminars, conferences, meetings and other gatherings to contribute to public discourse around OSF-SA\u2019s strategic focus and to build OSF-SA\u2019s public profile.<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate research output and opinion pieces in line with OSF-SA positions.<\/li>\n<li>Participate as an active member of the OSF-SA management team to facilitate the achievement of the overall organisational objectives.<\/li>\n<li>Support other OSF-SA teams proactively to collectively deliver on the organisation\u2019s strategic goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Master\u2019s degree in Law\/Social Sciences\/Economics\/Public Policy\/Development Studies\/Politics<\/li>\n<li>At least six\u00a0years\u2019 experience in research, policy development, grant making and advocacy, two\u00a0of which must be at a management<\/li>\n<li>Experience in the non-profit sector is an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated competence in publishing research or articles in relevant fields<\/li>\n<li>Leadership (building relationships, on-the-job coaching, focus on individual &amp; team development)<\/li>\n<li>Strategy development<\/li>\n<li>Budgeting<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)<\/li>\n<li>Communication skills, both verbal and written<\/li>\n<li>Project management skills (high level of attention to detail, planning and organising, monitoring and evaluation, follow-up, adhere to deadlines and travel arrangements)<\/li>\n<li>Experience with preparing and monitoring grant agreements, progress reports and budgets<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure and on multiple tasks simultaneously<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Integrity and professionalism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, send your updated CV together with a covering letter to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:hr@osfsa.org.za\">hr@osfsa.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only shortlisted candidates will receive a written response.<\/p>\n<p>If you do not receive a response within two weeks, you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> 31st August, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Open Society Foundation for South Africa (OSF-SA) is a grant-making organisation and is part of the global Open Society Foundations (OSF).
