This is done in partnership with communities, municipalities, provincial and national government. VPUU works in an integrated team of community participation, socio economic development, operation and maintenance, planning and design, infrastructure development, and knowledge management towards sustainable urban neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Centre Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Salary:<\/strong> R12 000 per month<br \/>\n<strong>Duration:<\/strong> 12 months<\/p>\n<p>This is a fixed term contract<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the position is to manage, initiate, and coordinate C Section and A Section Monwabisi Park Neighbourhood Centres (NHC) and its activities ensuring that the space is activated and vibrant 7 days per week.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build partnerships with local structures and officials, enabling the NHC to play a constructive role in area-based and inclusive Community Development<\/li>\n<li>Participatory Strategic Planning: coordinate planning in collaboration with community structures<\/li>\n<li>Provide strategic and operational leadership to staff and volunteers, including\n<ul>\n<li>Develop a Local Project Task Team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Operational management and promotion of the NHC and collaboration with its tenants and the adjacent ECD\/ ECD Resource centre\n<ul>\n<li>Manage and Oversee Operations and Logistics of the NHC<\/li>\n<li>Manage implementation of programmes according to time-frames and planning schedules<\/li>\n<li>Actively link to the other Areas of Expertise (AoE) within VPUU in particular, Safety initiatives, ECD, ICT4D, repair and maintenance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Hold regular meetings within VPUU and external stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Make creative use of social media linked to VPUU website<\/li>\n<li>Mobilise for and market the activities in the NHC, including the Leaders of Change programme in local communities and among stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Activate Centre together with Youth Groups<\/li>\n<li>Lead activators and service providers that utilize the centre<\/li>\n<li>Prioritise provision of training and support focusing on areas of: social cohesion, skills development, leadership and career guidance<\/li>\n<li>Keep a record of observations, best practice, issues and challenges related to the programme<\/li>\n<li>Report-writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relevant qualification in Community or Social Development, Education, Project or Events Management<\/li>\n<li>Experience in event management<\/li>\n<li>Five years proven management experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience in working with youth and communities in informal settlements<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the NGO sector<\/li>\n<li>Effective oral \/ written communication skills in at least two of the following languages: English, isiXhosa, Afrikaans<\/li>\n<li>Experience in conducting and facilitating trainings and workshops<\/li>\n<li>Computer skills (Microsoft Office, social media, data capturing)<\/li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving and organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team<\/li>\n<li>Proven leadership skills, self-motivated, passionate about social and community development<\/li>\n<li>Impeccable customer service skills<\/li>\n<li>Need to have the ability and flexibility to work sometimes during evenings or weekends especially for community engagements<\/li>\n<li>Driver\u2019s license and own transport<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Clearance and Child Protection Register clearance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit a CV and a covering letter, including certified copies of your ID and relevant qualifications to: VPUU, PO Box 2373 Cape Town 8000 or\u00a0email to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:apply@vpuu.org.za\">apply@vpuu.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preference will be given to candidates from the designated groups as defined by the Employment Equity Act.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are respectfully informed that if no notification of appointment is received within one month from the closing date, they must accept that their applications were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> 14th September, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VPUU NPC is a Public Benefit Organisation implementing multisectoral integrated area based upgrading programmes of neighbourhoods in townships and informal settlements.
