As part of its work to ensure that all South Africans are able to fulfil their potential, the DG Murray Trust is incubating a \u201cZero Dropout Schools\u201d initiative, with the vision of halving the number of learners who are pushed out of the basic education system before grade 12 each year. This ambitious initiative aims to set a common agenda and provide direction and clarity to mobilise the activities of a diverse range of stakeholders towards the same critical outcomes.<\/p>\n

One of the key strategies towards driving the development of a national network of \u2018Zero Dropout Schools\u2019, is to develop and demonstrate how older children can rapidly\u00a0catch-up the skills of reading for meaning as a core competency<\/strong>\u00a0that underpins school (and life) success.<\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Mentor Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n

To this end, the Zero Dropout School initiative is recruiting a\u00a0Mentor Manager\u00a0<\/strong>as part of a\u00a0reading accelerator pilot programme<\/strong>\u00a0for older learners who are behind their reading age.<\/p>\n

The Mentor Manager will work closely with the project leader, and will provide mentorship to community reading volunteers and oversee quality assurance. In addition, s\/he will develop a practical mentorship support programme for community reading volunteers based on learnings from the ground and research; extend this to develop a practical training and support programme and management system for mentors; develop the recruitment and selection process of mentors; co-develop a quality assurance system; and contribute to the overall development and rollout of the programme.<\/p>\n
