Through its pioneering work in the research and promotion of voluntary medical male circumcision scale-up activities, CHAPS has successfully implemented and disseminated sustainable evidence-based health solutions throughout South Africa and the region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Counsellors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>To be based at Johannesburg:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alexandra<\/li>\n<li>Soweto<\/li>\n<li>Orange Farm<\/li>\n<li>Midvaal<\/li>\n<li>Lesedi<\/li>\n<li>Sedibeng \/ Emfulweni<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initiate HIV counselling and testing to all clients<\/li>\n<li>Conduct counselling sessions as per PICT protocols<\/li>\n<li>Assist clients in the selection of appropriate community support services including index referral<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that counselling room\/gazebo is well equipped to provide high-quality testing services<\/li>\n<li>Carry out rapid HIV tests according to approved testing protocols<\/li>\n<li>Record and report accurate HIV test results to clients<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with linkage officer in regard to reactive clients<\/li>\n<li>Update the HTS register for all clients tested<\/li>\n<li>Refer all discordant test results to nearest facility for further management<\/li>\n<li>Monitor stock levels for rapid test kits and related commodities in the counselling room\/gazebo<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the counselling room and working stations are cleaned and orderly at all times<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the quality assurance specimens are properly packaged and shipped<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all hazardous materials are disposed of properly and according to protocol<\/li>\n<li>Carry out any other duties assigned by the Senior Counsellor<\/li>\n<li>Participate in quality assurance and improvement visits<\/li>\n<li>Ensure adherence to infection control protocols<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that clients\u2019 information is properly and accurately recorded and reported<\/li>\n<li>Ensure clients confidential information is kept secured<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all data tools are given to the Senior Counsellor daily<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trained as a HIV and AIDS Counsellor<\/li>\n<li>Pricking Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Basic counselling<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of two years\u2019 experience as an HTS counsellor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit your CV, and a letter of motivation, including your salary requirements and area preference to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:hr-admin@chaps.org.za\"><strong>hr-admin@chaps.org.za.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Note that experience will be considered over qualifications.
