It\u2019s de\ufb01ned as shortness in height for a child\u2019s age and it can only be diagnosed by comparing the child\u2019s measurements to standardized growth charts. 1 in 4 of South Africa\u2019s children under the age of \ufb01ve years old are stunted. Stunting robs young children from reaching their full potential. Stunted children on average perform worse at school than their non-stunted counterparts, are more likely to be unemployed as adults, are at higher risk of getting diseases like diabetes and hypertension and are vulnerable to being trapped in inter-generation- al cycles of poverty. This is unjust as stunting is completely preventable. Using data to mobilise policy makers, stories to inspire the public, communities of practice to support health practitioners and mom &amp; baby classes to support parents, the Grow Great campaign seeks to galvanise South Africa towards a future where no child is unjustly denied the opportunity to reach their full potential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Communications Officer\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Midrand, Gauteng<\/p>\n<p>The Communications Officer will have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A relevant degree<\/li>\n<li>3 to 5 years work experience in a communications role<\/li>\n<li>Experience in editing and proof reading of marketing material and press releases.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in materials design using relevant software including photo, video and graphic designing<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable experience with online content management systems and social media platforms<\/li>\n<li>Experience producing reports, articles, newsletters, presentations, lea\ufb02ets, press releases, and online content.<\/li>\n<li>Experience producing content across all media<\/li>\n<li>The drive to achieve<\/li>\n<li>Excellent writing skills<\/li>\n<li>A willingness to travel extensively within South Africa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Communications Officer will be responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting the Grow Great Communications Specialist in implementing and monitoring all communication duties as set out in the campaign communication strategy<\/li>\n<li>Assisting the Grow Great Communications Specialist to develop and maintain relationships with local media, stakeholders and partners<\/li>\n<li>Implementing public relations initiatives, and also assisting the Communications Specialist with the advertising and public education campaigns<\/li>\n<li>Assisting the Grow Great Campaign team with event management including activations and awards ceremonies<\/li>\n<li>Managing the Grow Great Campaign and related social media accounts<\/li>\n<li>Developing content for various media platforms<\/li>\n<li>Support the branding and visual identity of the Grow Great Campaign and related sister brands<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Interested applicants are to send a CV and 1 page cover letter to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ngopulse.org\/opportunity\/2018\/09\/18\/work@growgreat.co.za\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">work@growgreat.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications close on<strong> Friday, 28 September 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grow Great, a campaign aimed at galvanizing South Africa towards achieving zero stunting by 2030 is recruiting for the programme lead of Flourish- its newly launched national social franchise of&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1350,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[221],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
