The organisations vision is to create positive and lasting change in the lives of children, enabling them to make positive and definitive steps towards employment or further education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Behavioural Specialist<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:<\/strong> Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Working hours:<\/strong> 20-24 hours per week<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:<\/strong> January 2019<br \/>\n<strong>Salary:<\/strong> Dependent on experience<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the position is to deliver counselling services to 80\/160 children in our programme in 4 schools in the CBD of Cape Town and support the Schools Manager and Coaches in the delivery of the schools programme.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Deliver a mentoring programme with students both on a 1:1 basis and in a whole group setting<\/li>\n<li>Create new group mentoring sessions around the core principles of School of Hard Knocks that suit the needs of the group<\/li>\n<li>Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning, behaviour and attendance<\/li>\n<li>Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress, achievements, behaviours and attendance<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the monitoring and evaluating of all pupils on the course<\/li>\n<li>Be aware and support differences and ensure all pupils on the course have equal access to the mentoring programme<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection; health and safety; confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the programmes manager<\/li>\n<li>Communicate effectively with other agencies\/professionals, in liaison with the school to support achievement and progress of pupils on the course.<\/li>\n<li>Attend and participate in regular meetings, training and other learning activities as required, contributing to the overall ethos and aims of the charity<\/li>\n<li>Develop good relationships with school staff and outside agencies, including exchanging relevant information professionally<\/li>\n<li>Attend where required, Parents evenings or other specialist school events where SoHK presence is required<\/li>\n<li>Support pupils on the side of the pitch, who are struggling with their own emotions or behaviour enabling them to get back into the programme<\/li>\n<li>Support the assessment of pupils to determine those in need of particular help and support<\/li>\n<li>Assist with and advise on the mentoring of the most complex and challenging beneficiaries<\/li>\n<li>Train SoHK staff to enhance programme delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Experience of working with challenging young people<\/li>\n<li>Child safeguarding knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Ability to build rapport with young people with a variety of needs<\/li>\n<li>Ability to tailor interventions to meet the needs of the students on the course and support coaches to maintain these interventions<\/li>\n<li>Ethical knowledge on how and when to disclose as well as refer participants to healthcare professionals<\/li>\n<li>Communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of education system<\/li>\n<li>Writing skills for reports or referrals<\/li>\n<li>Ability to time manage effectively<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of group facilitation<\/li>\n<li>Driven and passionate to deliver the charity\u2019s objectives, in line with its values of Integrity, Excellence, Empowerment and Commitment<\/li>\n<li>Set standards in your own delivery, being meticulous in your preparation and reviews<\/li>\n<li>Able to challenge people constructively<\/li>\n<li>Care passionately about the success of our beneficiaries and support them to realise their potential<\/li>\n<li>Organised with attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Able to not just follow process, but to develop what is already in place and constantly improve delivery.<\/li>\n<li>Full of enthusiasm and positive energy and a great role model to those on our courses<\/li>\n<li>Be someone who naturally sets high standards and will ensure that course targets are met and exceeded<\/li>\n<li>Have a growth mindset, always ready to accept new challenges<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of mental health and child protection protocols with adolescents<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of rugby and the benefits it has for young people<\/li>\n<li>Experience in delivering training in any of the areas outlined above<\/li>\n<li>Experience of delivering in a classroom setting to a large group of young people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To apply, Fill in the application form at this link:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSezqXACmq_tYhQRI287ngLYlMwMpdFPDNWCoQf-EYl9r3p3Ow\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSezqXACmq_tYhQRI287ngLYlMwMpdFPDNWCoQf-EYl9r3p3Ow\/viewform<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>30th November, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>School of Hard Knocks uses rugby to\u00a0teach life-skills to school children\u00a0most at risk of dis-engagement.
