The Institute is part of an education consortium selected to implement USAID funded Literacy Project in the Northwest and Limpopo provinces between 2017 to 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Research and Development Intern<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Houghton, Johannesburg<br \/>\n<strong>Start date:<\/strong> 1 December 2018<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the intern is to primarily support the Research &amp; Development Unit in developing a variety of African language literacy materials for primary schools.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree in Linguistics or must currently be in final year in Linguistics<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of basic linguistics and\/or literacy and\/or reading pedagogy<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in reading and writing in an African language (preferably a Nguni language)<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in reading and writing in English<\/li>\n<li>Computer Literacy: Microsoft Office<\/li>\n<li>Ability to manage a website in terms of editing and uploading content (alternately, applicant must be willing to be trained in these skills)<\/li>\n<li>Proficient at website management in terms of designing, editing and uploading content<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in reading and writing in an African language (preferably a Nguni language)<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in reading and writing in English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Interest in linguistics and\/or literacy and\/or reading pedagogy<\/p>\n<p>To apply, submit CV with motivational letter to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:precious@molteno.co.za\">precious@molteno.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications may also be hand delivered to: Isle of Houghton, Old Trafford 2, Ground Floor, 11 Boundary Road, Houghton.<\/p>\n<p>A part-time contract can also be negotiated if the applicant is currently studying.<\/p>\n<p>Only shortlisted candidates will be responded to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>27th November, 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Molteno Institute for Language and Literacy (The Institute) is a South African literacy NGO based in Johannesburg with footprints in some provinces and the African continent.
